Re: 1997 Harley sportster 1200 top end question.

Re: I Need A Good Framing Idea

Frozen,
ceiling rafters not only give you something to cover for a ceiling but, keep the walls from pushing out with the roof load. You can use rafter ties for your ceiling joists to raise your...

Re: Carpenters/framers please chime in

That should work then, with a solid jam that will hold the weigh of the doors.

Just a thought....Instead of adding to the outside joist (tucked/flush header), I wonder if adding X bracing between...

Re: For ones thinking of building a 24' deep garage

Kevin, thank you.
This is why I always suggest to anyone wanting to build a new shop to stake it out and actually pull your car/trucks into it and walk around....24' sounds like a lot until its...

Re: Add on or tear it down and start over.

Gmjoe,
I don't see any issues but, measure twice and then go down to the Zoning Dept and talk to the guys down there, most Zoning laws I've dealt with want 3' to the side property line. While your...

Re: Add on or tear it down and start over.

Re: Adding a Ceiling

Guys,

Re: Wall recommendations sought

Tez,

Re: Adding a Ceiling

Don't put the vapor barrier on the ceiling. Did this on a job when I was younger and had to come back because the nails were wicking moisture. After I climbed up into the attic, pulled back the...

It sounds to me like you have...
