Re: 2 vs 3 Jaw Pullers

I have never regretted buying a quality puller of any sort.

I probably have +20 in all configurations and sizes and they all have a use. My advice is to check out flea markets, garage sales, etc...

Re: Help me find a chainsaw that I can start

Look at the Stihl (easy to start) line. My Grandfather bought one when he was no longer able to start his old Husky.

I've tried it a few times and it's like magic, pull the cord with hardly any...

Pole barn rafter/truss design

Hello Everyone,

I'm planning to add on to the current barn/shop.

The original barn was built about 12 years ago and is roughly 26'x40' with 12' sidewalls. The roof pitch is 4-12.

I want...

Re: Craftsman, strange combo wrench

I have a set of metric double open end wrenches with that open end. I can't remember the name at the moment. If I recall correctly they're supposed to be a high torque open end for damaged or frozen...

Re: Angle grinder suggestions

Metabo for me. I have two of them (4-1/2" quick release) along with a DeWalt, Hitachi, Craftsman Industrial, and 9" Milwaukee.

The Metabo are by far my favorite, comfortable in the hand,...

Mastercool 71475 (universal hydraulic flaring tool) Opinions?

Hey Everyone,

I know a few of you have this tool so I'm shopping for opinions.

I'm looking at this tool primarily to flare brake lines. I don't do much brake work but when I do the cheap...

Re: what is the best bargain in long metric wrenches

I think your expectations are unrealistic. $150 for a complete set of NEW long pattern metric combo wrenches is pretty representative of the cheaper end of the market.

If you forgo the "long...

Re: Cold Cut Saw vs Bandsaw

I have both an Evolution saw and larger bandsaws. The Evolution saw works nicely when used as intended but seems much more sensitive to misuse, ie steel too thick, steel too thin, feed too fast, feed...

Re: New Armstrong 88T Aerospace 3/8 Ratchet First Impression`s

I might be wrong on this but my understanding it that "aerospace" tools are sealed differently (rivets instead of screws) to prevent them from coming apart in use.

Re: lets see some SO classic 60's

I think it's a decent box and pretty price competitive if you'll be getting 50% off.

That being said it's a smaller box than I'd want to start out with. If you get the discount on the full line...

Re: Do you use sockets over 1 1/4" for general automotive/truck?

1-1/2" is a common size for the nut on a hitch ball.

Re: Big old lathe

Definitely get a picture if you can. A machine that size from the 60's could still have some real value assuming it's not clapped out completely.

Re: Garage bridgeport

Too rich for my blood.

The only thing more expensive than an expensive Bridgeport is a cobbled together cheap Bridgeport.

Looks like a J-head but it's a round ram, according to the ad the...

Your Grandfather did invent a self adjusting vise grip type tool but Peterson did invent the vise grip as we know it most commonly today and did it almost a decade before your Grandfather.

See...

Re: Guy wants to buy CL tool from me w/Paypal...yes or no??

Personally...

Re: Cleaning a corroded electrical cord

I would chop the end off and replace it with a single 15A or 20A (depending on wire size) female plug.

GFCI's are finicky in my experience, I have enough issues with them tripping or not...

Re: Who makes good garden sheers?

Felco.

I use my #2 Felco shears just about everyday, replace the blade once or twice a year and they just keep going, I've had mine for probably +4 years now.

I've also used Corona, Fiskar,...
