Hey guys.. So I am currently in the middle of build my rotisserie.. So far I have about 45 bucks invested into this thing.. Sure does beat spending a grand on a Auto Twirler.. I have taken plans from various companies and homemade designs and improved on them.. Once it is finsihed I will provide specs for anyone who wants to copy it. I am using 2 1/2 inch sq tubing, 6 inch casters, all thread rod for balance adjustments. Here are some current pictures.

Lost my wire brush so I couldnt clean my weld.. I am welding with a Lincoln 180.. .030 wire with shielding gas..

I will bead blast everything and paint it when I get it all fab'ed up (bedliner with a rough finish for durability?). Currently the width is 84 inches (7ft).. I am going to mount my 72 camaro on it so the specs are being built based on the car.. Of course it will be adjustable to accommodate other makes and model. Total fab time so far is about 6 hours.. I got the metal for free and had to weld some together and make them longer.. therefore if you went out and bought sq tubing, cut them to size and weld it would have taken 2-3 hours for the whole frame.. Then another 3 hours I would say to get the attachment arms fab'ed and welded..

Heres a picture of a mounting plate for the casters.. I used my Lincoln plasma cutter which worked like a charm.. Everyone needs a plasma cutter

Ill jump back on it in a few days.. More pictures to come.

if you havent already done so, take a look in my album and you will see the rotiserrie I built. it is currently 15+ years old and has been used for several vehicles.
you will want to add some bracing at the cross joint of the tubes

I am going to use 2 inch sq tubing to brace it all up.. Upon doing some research I came across some scary looking ones.. Some had so much flex where it brought the wheels off the ground or looks like its just going to collapse... That is why I opt to build my own.

We used my buddies 4post lift combined with an old air bumper jack. I wouldn't want to tie a lift up for a long term project, but it's worked out perfect for the 2 trailers we've painted on it thus far.

But, if I didn't want to play "welder", I would have built one of these!!

I give him hell all the time :) Having long hair working in the garage would **** and get nasty.. I would never last with long hair.. I've seen designs for the roll over thing and one that you can roll in a cage.. Looks neat but I dont think it would support the chassis very well..

Got some welding done.. Ran out of shielding gas  I pretty much have everything fabbed up and welded in place on the main supports. Lifting device is in place anf fully functional. I still need to weld in gussets and install adjusting pins. After that I have to fab up attachment arms that bolt up to the car. If I have a good full day I should be able to get everything done and adjusted so that it works smoothly. After that I am going to tear it down for final grinding and paint. Has anyone tried bedliner in a spray can by DuPont? I may consider the hammer finish paint with a black combination. One reason why I am considering the bedliner is there are small pits in the metal from surface rust which will show if I use regular gloss. I want this thing to look nice.
