Im in the process of finding an epxoy to do my floor. I have been looking at Sherwin Williams Armseal 1000 vs ICI paints (Devoe Coatings) 224HS Solid epoxy.

The ICI Paint store quoted me at $49 per gallon for PART-A and PART-B.

Seems that alot of people like the Armorseal so I called several Sherwin Williams stores to get info on Armoseal and prices.

Store #1 - $56.20 for Part A&B
Store #2 - $61.00 for Part A&B
Store #3 - $79.95 for Part A&B

Neither SW store 1 or 3 even remotely acted like they cared to sell me Armorseal or new anything about the product.

I guess I'm going with the ICI, Devoe Coating 224HS. The guy new his product and it seems very comparable to Armoseal for slightly less money. I dont mind pay extra, but I dont feel like SW could give any help or advise me on their products.

I know this is somewhat I rant, and I have mind up my mind. I just hope the DEVRAN 224HS is good.

I just wondered what gives with the mulitple prices at SW and has anyone else experienced things like this with SW?

thanks for letting me vent a little.

Sorry to hear that. I've had similar experiences with SW on that product. Most places won't sell it to me because of the hazards and me being a homeowner, etc. It's not really a DIY product, so the normal guys in the stores don't know much about it...in my experience.

SW stores are indepedently owned, no? Probably a reason for the prices

Contractors with accounts get discounts, so maybe a couple of the stores just gave you a break with contractor pricing.

Sherwin Williams stores are all corporate owned, but the managers have pricing ability, and the list price of product is determined by the geographic market profile. In essence, they charge more in the more affluent markets. If there is a issue of possible health issues with the product, they might restrict sales to a list of qualified users.

All SW stores would sell it to me and all the stores are in the same area (within 20 miles of each other). They dont seem to know their product or they just dont care unless your have an account with them. Oh well. ICI Paints seem to very willing to take my $$ and offer the same/equal product as Armorseal.

thanks.

Get in touch with a Sherwin William’s Industrial Marine Representative through the store of your choice. He will set the price and give you all the technical information that you request. Though the pricing you received didn’t sound that bad. I bought about 50 gallons of epoxy from them at one time for my garages and paid just under $50.00 per gallon 2 1/ 2 years ago.... I’m happy as a lark how their products have been performing.

Which Devoe product do you recomend Eric? The Tru-Glaze 4508 or the DEVRAN 224HS? The 224 has 75% soLID VS 52% on the Tru-Glaze.

thanks.

Notch,

The only reason for not using the DevFloor 521 is for ease of installion and pot life as I have nobody helping me.
