Hi guys, I want to put a floor down in my garage this spring. I am not interested in epoxy, it is a nice floor, but I live in the Chicago area and have not seen one that has held up well over a couple of years due to our winters. When we get a lot of snow a lot salt is put down on the roads and it is brought into the garage along with the snow that gathers in wheel wells. Don't do a lot of heavy duty work in there, just light car maintence and a little wood working and cigar smoking. Was thinking of PVC tile or a roll out product, and want any input I can get as far as durability and maintenance. Garage is heated and ventilated. I appreciate any advice. Thanks.

The VCT I used might be good for you since your workload is lite, and you want it for ease of maintenance.

^^ Looks great, but I definitely wouldn't want to walk on that floor when it's wet. Especially if cars are being parked on it during the winter season.

We all have a lot of opinions on what the best product for your garage floor is :-) The PVC BLT Garage floor mats are a great affordable option. PVC and polypropylene tiles are available. Make sure if you go with a tile you go with a premium product. A cheap garage floor tile will cost you a lot more in the long run than a good one.

I'd call one of the two Rhino Flooring installers in your state. Salt won't hurt it and its not epoxy.

I live in ND and have a polished concrete floor and love it...easy to clean and isn't slippery as long as your garage is heated.

Thin mil water based epoxy with a high wear urethane with aluminum oxide. Slip resistant and you can flatten out a quarter trying to scratch it. Salts wont bother it. And it's inexpensive compared to the poly aspartics or thick mil epoxy coatings. We have a lot of installers in your area and a distributor in Chicago.
Go to www.elitecrete.com and search for a distributor near you. I have contractors in North West Indiana also if you are looking to have this done. gene |

Lots of durability and no maintenance, tile, porcelain. Never going to think about it after you install it.

I would like a sample of this. How does it do for drainage in the winter, does water run off of it well?

drop us a line with your contact and shipping information to Jenn Storms at jstorms@snaplock.com or call 800-457-0174 and she will get you some free samples to see.
The flooring is suspended and channeled to allow air to circulate and liquids to flow if your garage floor is pitched. (and evaporate if not). I live in the mountains of Utah and we get our fair share of snow and road slop, My garage has a slight slope going out the door and all liquids flow out. I even was my cars in the garage during the winter. FreeFlow is another great option if you have a garage like this. we can send you both styles at no charge.
