A few years ago I finished my 73 VW Westfalia. Now I am working on completing a 72 Beetle "Butt" end that I am making into a party trailer, complete with gas grill, stereo, cooler, etc.
I am also redoing a 71 Eriba Puck. I have that ready for paint, so I am trying to get the Bug Butt to the paint stage asap. Here is a little progress I made tonight. Thought I could post a bit each night I can work on it to keep me motivated. |

That's pretty sweet!
Anxious to see how this turns out.

That will be a really cool combo going down the road. What are your plans for painting the bug butt? Going to match the bus?

Ok I thought it was just me. But drb007 is having the same problem too. On my computer the pics look normal. I upload my pics to photobucket. On photobucket they look normal. When I put them in a Garage Journal post they are sidways. What's up with that?

Very slick! Now I have to ask, are you going to add Cabriolet top too? It would 'top' (pun) it off as a cool sunshade and a dry rain-fly on those days when you've got to cook in spite of the weather. Another thought, add some old school chrome fender light buckets to house some outdoor speakers; gotta' have tunes for the chef, right? lol

Not sure what punctuation you were referencing...
Also not sure what happened to the pictures. As JF5000 says, they all look good until uploaded. Sorry. The bug will be painted to match the bus. No cabrio top, but a matching umbrella. The stereo is a marine iPod cd player. Three 10 inch subs in the "firewall" and 6 inch waterproof speakers mounted on either side of the stereo. I may set up a couple of posts for some outdoor box speakers that can be swiveled...still planning. I will make a cover, a kind of "tonneau" so to speak, to cover the top and front while towing... |

Greeat looking projects. Not sure I would want to claim I was towing a "bug butt". Perhaps "bug tug"?

The kids named it Bug Butt. I agree it'll need a rename...
They call the bus the Culvers Better Butter Burger Bus as it is Culvers Blue... The car was interesting. It was up for auction at a local credit union. It had been used as collateral and was repossessed. I personally would fire the banker that let them use that as collateral...I bought it for $350. It had no engine and the interior was shot. The doors and front fenders were poorly repaired...lots of bondo. I found a guy a state away that wanted the front clip off the car as it was a Super Beetle. Sold that to him for $250. He took it home on a two wheeled car dolly! There is a fair amount of rust that I had to cut out. Would not have been worth keeping whole. I will need to repair the rear fenders or replace them. The engine lid is perfect. I am thinking about using the engine door off of a Bay Window Bus for access under the grill. I have to measure to make sure the LP tank can fit through it. Lots of welding to do... |

Even though I knew what the title meant, I was still hoping to see some sort of porno movie preview...

DRB007, how about posting more pictures of Culvers Better Butter Burger Bus? Do you have any pictures of the rebuild; if you do, how about a new thread just for the bus? I've never owned any VW product, but there's just something about those buses.... Maybe one day I'll go Gypsy, buy a Safari (?) model and go a-wandering. lol
Sounds like you've got a good mental image of the finished 'Bug Butt'; or might it be (V)dubbed the 'Van Can'? heh-heh |

Nope on the Van Can...that's my only pet-peeve...it's a bus, not a van
![]() I have tons of pictures of the bus build...on my broken computer. I need to figure out how to get the hard drive downloaded to my new computer. Then I will be happy to share! |
