For security reasons I like to log out from the forum when I will be away for a few days and at present I do not seem to be able to do this.
I have just logged out but found again when I returned I was still logged in.:dunno: May be a question for Ryan as I do the same with the HAMB and it works ok over on that forum.

It's like the Hotel California; You can check out any time you like... but you can never leave!

Are you sure you don't have an autologon set? I tried logout and it works for me. I do not have the 'remember me' box checked. You might have to clear a cookie to to undo a remember me, I don't know, but I could find nothing in the users cp to help.

Yes this place is addictive. I used to log out daily and then only changed it for security when I was away from my office.

Not sure about that. As far as I am aware I have changed nothing in my settings as I use the HAMB the same way. Thanks for the suggestion though as I may have changed something I was not aware of. :) Will look into it and see what happens.

Do you use more than one computer? I have a desktop, laptop and my phone. If I don't log out of all three, I will be logged in when I come online.

I am sorry if this question is out of place but I am worried. This is a serious question-----
What "security issues" am I open to?

What does it matter if I'm logged on when I'm not on this site?
What does it matter if I'm logged on when my PC is off?
What does it matter if I'm logged on while on this site?
What info can be gained by a hacker if I choose not to log out of this site?

I guess I am very naive to the security threats I'm open to while online.

you're good, man.
the only thing to worry about is someone has to be on your PC, and chooses to spam GJ by using your account, or the trespasser could simply lock you out of your GJ account by changing your password.

Only the one computer. Like you if you do not log out then your access stay open when you come back. Only for me I log out and when I return I am still logged in.

It has to be a forum setting I have changed :dunno:

I would not be worried unless your modem can be hacked or some one else has access to your computer.

 That is why if I am away I like to log out and shut off the modem as I would hate to find out some one has spammed the GJ using my access.
Let me add I not only wish to protect myself but at the same time the GJ forum and that is why I have posted about the problem I have.

so HOTFR8... did javagoodweegend or what! We went up to Tangambalanga and cut and stacked about 11 ton of firewood for the winter... drank a lot of piss and enjoyed the autumn rays.

Got in a dust storm on Good Friday whilst travlening and spent Easter cleaning out an old Garage with all sorts of things in it. No Car events this Easter.

Looking for that in the control panel and have not found it

Like I said I could not find it in CP either. Do you enough about computers to find and look at your cookies? If you can go in an eliminate the cookies set by garage journal.

Tried cookie deletion and that did not work. I have also sent a pm to Ryan directing him to this topic :willy_nil I have the same settings here as on the HAMB and as both forums run the same way I am lost as to what I have changed or has changed on the forum.

Thanks for the info!!
No one else uses my PC to cause problems here and I'll just hope no one hacks my modem.

HOTFR8, sounds more like a web browser issue to me mate. What software are you running. I.E windows, ios, linux ?
There are two types of cookies, short term and long term. to search for them, assuming windows, try this:
C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR
USER NAME\Application Data
\Microsoft\Internet Explorer
Note. You can only see this folder by right clicking the mouse and
turning on SHOWING HIDDEN FILES.

You could be correct and thanks I will try that, but I do not have the same issue with the HAMB so it makes me refer back to settings on the GJ.
