Yep, do the "unpaid item" thing. In fact, that's what happened.

I've done it before on a deadbeat buyer. You can cancel the transaction provided you both agree to, or you can give them a non-paying bidder strike. They actually are a non-paying bidder, since they did enter a legally binding contract by winning the item. However, it is often more trouble to go through the non-paying bidder process than just canceling the sale. You do get your fees back, and I'm sorry you had to go through this. According to eBay, this has become more common since sellers can't leave negative feedback anymore, and they are working on a solution to give sellers a way to combat this. I went through a long process with a deadbeat buyer who tried everything to give ME the shaft when he did the same thing that happened here.

I believe they will also allow you to relist it for free if they will not refund the listing fee.

That's not good business on his end, and unfortunately eBay has become more friendly for the buyer and less so for the seller lately. I think you can still file DBB as everyone has said and relist it w/o losing fees. Maybe you could list the user name so that anyone else that encounters this guy can deny his bid or offer in future transactions.
BTW, did you go look at that Vintage MAC box and tools in Boonville last week that was on CL for $500/OBO? Last edited by eborcim; 11-05-2009 at 09:21 AM. |

Geez... With all the ruckus after having to deal with the first bidder i relisted the item and didnt set my parameters up to keep the deadbeat overseas scammers away. Another auction ended by someone who doesnt intend on paying... Read this crap....
![]() Hello, I have won the auction using the buy it now and I want you to answer the below questions accordingly before I get the bank check and send it out to you. 1. Can I trust you with the money? 2. Will you be able to wire transfer the added fee the same day you receive and cash the check? Because I will add my shipper fee on the check ,that mean I will put additional fee on the check so when it clear you will have to just deduct your item fee and kindly pay the balance to the shipper I have got. 3. Will you be available when the shipping company will be coming for the pick up? 4. Is the item just the way you describe it in eBay? 5. Again Can I take you for your words? 6. You can provide me your name; address and phone number if you are agree to the above Questions so that I can send the bank check by tomorrow. AGAIN I DO NOT HAVE A PAYPAL account that mean am going to send the full payment by check that is cashable at your bank same day. Thanks So responded>>> Dear cottward, Yes... I will accept your flock of goats for payment, Could you make sure they have plenty of water and food so they dont die before they reach the states. I have reported you to ebay, so you will have to come up with another name and email to try and scam someone. My fault for not setting the bid parameters up to keep you from jacking ( Jacking, Now thats funny) up my auction. Shame on me...

About six weeks ago I bought a reconditioned compressor off ebay. I contacted the seller after three days wondering where the shipping information was - he said you'll have the item within 10 days after closing. Twelve days later - no compressor...yeah I am a bit miffed...but no worries...
I contacted the seller again and I get a song & dance about how the factory is late in delivering reconditioned compressors... ![]() I just tell the seller I want my money back...after going a couple rounds with him I finally get an email from him to MUTUALLY CANCEL THE TRANSACTION...only after this would I be able to get my payment back... It all worked out...he recouped most of his fees from ebay, I got my money back...so you might want to pursue this route if you don't want to hassle with the deadbeat anymore than you already have... |

I think the trick to most online transaction problems is to early on start thinking, how do I resolve this, instead of how do I get what I want.
