I saw this advertised and thought this is too good to be true. How do they compare to tecumsheh and brigs and stratton? I was thinking f my compression is down on the snow blower maybe I'll buy one of these engines.

Looks like a chinese motor to me. I have not had good experience with them and parts could be a problem. Admittedly, I am a Honda guy through and through after selling and servicing them for 25 years on industrial pressure washers that get the snot run out of them. Its the only motor I would buy.

I bought a new 20 HP B&S Intek the other day for $560 from my local dealer.
Small engines have come down A BUNCH. Maybe they're all coming from China now? Phil |

Very cheap very cheap.
I wonder if it will hold up. I was hoping someone had some experience. I guess if my snow blower has poor compression I might have to be the guinea pig |

Well that's good to know. I bet they are from the same central supply (in China).

Got a pamphlet the other day that Toro will be dumping B&S and switching most of their line to Honda knock-offs as well and self badging them as Toro Engines. The switch includes their zero turn ride on mowers . I guess theres no stopping it.

The seals/gaskets WILL leak. I have a few of these engines of my self. Replace the gaskets/seals with genuine honda replacements and you will be good to go.

Well... I can't help thinking of the old adage - You get what you pay for!
That said, if you only want/need a 50 hour engine, that you're not depending on, go for it. |

Will genuine Honda parts fit on the knock off?
The last few years have been a tough time for the American small engines business. |

i have the 16hp version of it and i cant compalain at all other then the pull start was messed up out of the box (luckily i got the electric start and planned on deleting the pull start anyway) the biggest thing you need to do with the honda clones is change the oil 3 or 4 times in the first few hours to get them cleaned out.

I have that engine on my portable generator. After about 5 hours run time the intake rocker came loose and jumped off the pushrod. I fixed that by re-adjusting the valves and has been running great since. Starts right up and no oil consumption. Very quiet compared to my 5 HP mower then again, the generator has a big muffler.

it is a 1970 sears suburban garden tractor it has a chrome alternator on the engine and a 2 farad cap i use all that electronic stuff to run a big inverter so i can use the tractor as a generator too. the diamond plate panel u see is just a block off to dress up ware the stock gas tank, and exhaust mounts are. ware all the wires are going to is a piece of plexi that i used to make my own quick disconnects for the inverter its also a good place to jumpstart a car from. the tractor itself has ag tires all around with wheel weights and liquid filled tires and i mainly use it to move my boat and trailers around and plow snow. beleive it or not it looks somewhat stock with the hood closed. I will see if i can find a good pic of the whole tractor.
