Default Identify this broken taillight - left at hit and run

So my roommates car is parked out front of our house on the street in a residential area, and this morning he tells me that his car was hit. Someone scrapped along most of the door and rocker, and it left a nice dent behind the door.

But whoever hit it, left these nice pieces of their taillight behind. This was the best I could assemble it.

The taillight has red on all three sections of it, and I can't figure out what kind of car or truck it came off of. The taillight has a curve in it, but it was hard to hold it all together for a picture. So what are your best guesses at what kind of car left this behind?

Is there a car company logo or a part number on what's left?

You have scrutinized all the pieces for any mfr's marks / logo's and such, correct?

Also considere where it was parked - a scrape like that had to happen turning near the truck - was it a parking lot? Or parked on the street? This may give some clues to who it was / how it happened.

I wouldn't know. I don't like mustangs, just knew the tail light was from one.

An expedition is looking kind of close:

Depends on the curve of the lens and actual size.

I don't know but it isn't a Mustang. The red areas are too narrow and squared off. Look to be spaced too far apart too. The reflector is also in the wrong place as said above.

Bumper would hit first on the explorer. Olds too. Look at some mini vans, something low enough to put the bumper under the truck.

I did this and found the wipe who caused 2 grand worth of damage to my truck. His light was broken and I fit the piece in there right in front of the cop. Not good enough. Good luck with this, all I did was make it so I couldn't get even. They took all my info and warned me that if anything happened to Mr. Jack Wipes car that I would be arrested.

Nice huh?

Well, if it was parked on a residential street, first places I'd scrutinize are the neighbor's driveways that are across the street from where the vehicle was parked. Consider the simplest explanation first and work your way to others. Maybe someone backing out of the neighbor's driveway hit your friend's vehicle. Might not be the neighbor themselves, but a friend/visitor. Keep your eyes peeled for a white vehicle.

easier to find a car missing a tail light than identifying a broken tail light

and considering it protudes a wee bit on the side and also the fact that it was a lifted truck it scraped on, light is in correct location height wise, I could see this vehicle before the mustang.
