Default Let's see your pets

Did a search and could only find 1 thread full of broken links.

So, let's see some pictures of your furry friends (or not so furry in some cases).

Dusty Cat, now about 18 yo or so and with lots of health problems.

My outdoor girls, (L to R) Critter (mom), Socks, Calico Cat (sisters). I had previously posted this pic in a thread titled "Security"

Insulated, double wall, heated, house they sleep in when the temps are too cold. Its insulated with the white foil backed Styrofoam sheet and lined with thin Masonite sheet. Top lifts off for cleaning, it is about 3" thick and has two layers of the insulation in the frame of it.

Girls in their house.

Gorgeous Sibe...and kudos to you for taking in a rescue. We used to foster rescues, too many people get them b/c they are "cute" and do not count on the amount of exercise they need!

Yeah, she's a pretty girl. My wife calls her my "mid-life crisis girlfriend"! I guess she thinks it better my girl friend have (4) legs, instead of (2)

She did take some getting used to, we actually exercise her with bicycles. My wife and I ride, while holding Taylors lead, she will run along beside us.

Our supply of cats has been severely depleted so we had to get a couple new ones. The gray one is Ruby and the little guy is waiting for his name. 100 mph or comatose.

The there's Axel, a Shepard/something mix that we rescued, sitting with his girlfriend Thelma, also a rescue.

We rescued Von in 2007, when she was 5 months old. Her owner had given up on her and was going to put her down if she did not find a new home. She came with a pedigree and has done well in shows.

Nala is another rescue. She's all kinds of messed up. One of her owners beat her, the next one kept her cooped up in a 4th floor apartment with her and her 3 boys, she was kind of like their toy. She did her business in one corner of the living room and socialized with the cat across the hall once in a while. She did not seem to know what outside was when we took her for her first walk with us.

We got Mia from a breeder. She's the baby of the bunch, coming up on 4 years old but still a puppy.

Here is our newest. He is "rooster",4 yr old thorobred- mamoth cross. We brought him home 18 days ago and almost lost him last saturday to sand colic and a twisted gut. Loaded him up and nancy and a friend trailered him down to MSU at 1130pm,got there at 3 am sunday! The gut flopped during the ride down but he was still in bad shape. He's been in the equivilent of an ICU down there. We may be able to bring him home friday.

my hoard.

the dogs are lucky and daria, and i dont have picks of all the cats but currently we have seven.

the cat with the toilette paper turban was my little girl pippin, we lost her a few months back when she was 15-16, she was a wild cat coaxed in by a neighbor and with out a doubt was my girl, no one else could get near her, but she slept next to me every night and passed in my arms.

daria the brown dog has autoimmune hemolytic anemia, as some of you may remember when i asked for support. im very glad to report shes doing really well

edit; the second picture of the red and white dog, thats the marvinator in the back ground aka dad

Here's my two pups. Ruger (the black) and Remi (the chocolate). They are brother and sister about 6 months apart. Ruger is 11 months and he has the personality of an old dog. He's likes to lay around, doesn't get real excited often, and he was very simple to train. Very gentle dog. Even around very young kids screaming and running he knows to be extra gentle with them. Remi is lot more "lab like". She's got more energy than can be run out in one day. And tough as nails. When they are "sparring" she hangs right in there even though Ruger has 40 lbs on her. It is fun to just sit back and watch them play. And they might be a litlle spoiled...

Great to see the Pits! I have one of those vicious 50lbs lap pitbulls too

She's a rescuse. Got her about 3 years ago. "Moose" the shelter gave her the name, and we kept it.

A rare photo of me as well.

#1 is Fugley - who was a stray who wandered into hunting camp in PA as a "handful of fluff" orange & white kitten years ago. He was full of "mats and burrs" which were trimmed out of his coat - and who then was described as the "effing ugliest cat I've ever seen" - thus earning his name. Thinks he should still be an outdoor cat - but is best suited to imitate a "stuffed animal" on a little girls bed!

#2 is Freeway - who as a very young black kitten - was rescued from the center divider of the 210 Freeway in Los Angeles during mid-afternoon traffic by our oldest son - hence his name.

And #3 is "Petey" - my shop cat/kitten and FFR build supervisor/inspector.

Cats is kool!

YMMV

sorry for your loss, ive gone through the same recently and sadly know i will again soon, one of our cats is near 20 and not looking so great, she's healthy, but old and thin now.

i wish my brit looked that good. no matter how often he is bathed he turns his white green in the yard, and stains his front legs with clay

This is Willy one of the 5 cats at home right now. He's got some Maine Coon in him tufts of fur between his toes and a W on his forehead. Weighs in at 20 lbs and can reach the door knob with ease. Can't turn the knob yet though.

Here is a pic of our Yorkipoo the first day we brought her home. I wanted a larger dog but you know how that goes. We have a small house and a small yard, a small dog is a good fit. She is the smartest, most loyal dog I have ever had. She now tips the scale at 11.5 pounds.

The golden retriever (No he's not an irish setter!), Chewy is mine. He's 6, I've had him since he was 8 weeks old.

The Boston Terrier, Gulliver is my girlfriend's dog. He's 4, she's had him since he was a little puppy.

The mutt, Lilo is my little sister's dog. She currently lives with me.

First, me and the moron twins.........they're not really twins ( I think that was from the movie Splash). Belle is the darker one and Dreyfuss is the Saint Bernard. He was probably 3-4 months in that picture. Now at 8-9 months he's 110lbs and growing. They don't both fit in my lap anymore! Belle is a very intelligent girl, border collie, lab and retriever are her main breeds. She loves to have a purpose in life.
The others are Jack (in the snow), Gypsy and Vegas are the two red roans.
There are other animals (2 cats and 2 rabbits, possibly some chickens this spring).

our 70lb, 6 year old rescued GSD/husky mix.
got her when she was approx 18 months old. had been a stray, fostered out several times, adopted twice and returned to the shelter, because she was too wild, uncontrollable, and down right mean...

if theres such a thing as ADD for dogs, this one has it.

Heres our 2 fools. Simon the french bulldog is on the left and Monty the English is on the right.... Doing what they do best, begging for treats!

And this big Boston Terrier is Tank (CKC/AKC Sir Sherman Tank) lost him a couple of years ago but he's still with me everywhere I go. He basically raised the other 2. Most amazing dog I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. RIP "Loo-boy".

Lucy, a.k.a. "The Bear" and Rocky the Boston Terror. Rocky was rescued by my wife from a pet store who was ready to dispose of him (or send him to be a stud dog). He took a while to come around...now sleeps in the bed. Or rather, we sleep in his bed according to him

Lucy came from the bank. My wife and kids saw her tied up outside (as a puppy) while the owner did her banking. My wife asked about her and the owner said she and her sister were still available from the litter. We took both puppies and Lucy's sister lives with my sister.

Sorry, no pics of the cat ("Kiara") and the bird (Mr. Peabody").

His name is Dewey- My SIL arrested the owner for DUI. "Titas" was in the car. Asked what to do with him and he said he didn't want him anymore. 24 hours later, she brought the surrender paperwork to him and asked again. He signed the papers. We took him for a night or two and his personality was awesome. We adopted him and changed his name to Dewey.

He was to be almost 4 months old at the time but the vet didn't think he was quite 3. We have had him for 1 month and he has had 3 accidents in the house. Otherwise, he is learning what to do when he has to go potty, sit, stay, shake, etc.

I caved and we let him sleep in bed.

95% of animals can be trained to be good (or bad). The other 5% are just plain wired wrong.

pitbulls, rottweilers, and german shepherds scare me less than yorkies, and I'm dead serious. I've never met a yorkie that wasn't begging for a foot up its butt.

It is surprising that pitbulls would be banned over there considering that they are only a slight variation on Staffordshire Terriers, which I have seen over there all the time. It is my understanding that the Staffies are more aggressive than pits. When they were brought over they were bred larger and a lot of aggression was bred out to serve as farm dogs. Even Staffies I thought were bred only to be aggressive to other dogs and aggression to humans bred out.

My pit is the biggest marshmallow. He would be perfectly safe if not for the fact that he does not appreciate his size and weight (65lb) and thinks that all adults need to be licked in the face. He would never intentionally hurt anyone or shown any aggression toward people or other animals. He does want to "play" with everything and that can make other dogs nervous and defensive. He does realize that with children he needs to be gentle around them. He will very carefully take treats from my wife's 2yr old niece and has no problem with her rough patting.
Here he is laying down next to my 4wk old. He basically just sniffs him occasionally to make sure he is ok (crying).

ive seen some "good" pitbulls, and some "bad" as well.

when i lived down in florida, a few guys that i knew had pitbulls as hunting dogs.
for the most part they werent pets, but more like a tool to get a job done.
they disposed of dogs that wouldnt hunt, as well as any that showed any aggression towards a human.

any breed of dog can be aggressive, the rescue sheperd/husky mix we have now was slightly agressive towards strangers, kids, and sometimes other dogs. she'd been locked up at the humane society for over a year, adopted twice, and brought back, she was considered "wild, territorial & aggressive"
it took about a year for us to get her "socialized" to being around people, and other dogs.
she still dont like strange men, even walking down the street.

Here's my buddies, both Platinum Mink Tonkinese. On the right is Max, a handsome 16 year old. What looks like his daughter is actually a great, great, great grandniece of his, Kaylee, 2. She bugs the crap out of him, but as you can see, they love each other. Max is about 14 lbs, Kaylee is 7 lbs. We lost Max's brother, Gunner at 13 right on his birthday. He was a gorgeous Blue Mink Tonk.

Here's Kaylee, about to jump into my arms, (whether I'm ready or not) something I dearly love.

Penny our 10 yr old shiba-inu, we adopted her a little over 2 years ago. She fit right in the family the moment we brought her home. All of our friends and family adore her, she's calm, doesn't bark, doesn't beg.

And yes we are aware she looks like a fox . Anytime we meet someone new that is the first thing out of their mouth.

An update. I originally posted here, in this same thread. As noted in my avatar, I lost Dusty Cat in March of 2012 due to kidney failure, he was about 18/19 years old. Critter mom cat (pics in other post) disappeared sometime after the evening feeding on July 3, 2012. She normally never left the yard, but we lost at least 6 cats from the neighborhood in July and August of '12 and believe that a coyote was staying in the area, one of the neighbors reported seeing one a couple of times.

July 30, 2012 I went and picked up this girl, Lilly, from the home of someone who works where I do (but a different department). He had posted her and a Maine Coon on the bulletin board and I resisted for a couple of weeks before calling. His MIL decided she did not want the cats or a dog any longer and was all but abusing them by locking them in a bathroom all day. So the fellow employee rescued them from the MIL and put them up on the board for adoption. Lilly is now about 7 years old and a real handful. Very active and totally indoors.

Just added to the family a week ago. Here's Quigley, a 3 month old Blue-point Tonkinese. As usual, he's quite a ball of fire.

And a rare photo of all three, ages 16, 3, and 3 months, laying on mommy's lap and nobody fighting.

The boys who are the same age but not littermates doing what they do best...................at least they aren't beating on each other......for now............

Linus the brown tabby who is a handful. Vet seems to think he has some Bengal in him. If he is awake he is on the go and doesn't shut up. He was left behind at a local rental house and ended up mine.

Scamp the orange tabby. Got him from a local animal rescue group to keep the brown tabby company so the brown tabby wouldn't drive me nuts when I got home from work. Typical orange male tabby.........loveable and way laid back............until they two start beating on each other.

I should post some pictures of Torque, my beagle. The GF only has 100,000 pictures off him. Poor little guy is on restrictive rest right now after doing something to his back this last Saturday. He just turned 6. I hope it is nothing major, my last beagle had to be put down at 7 for back problems.

We have two dogs, two cats and a snake.

This is Zeus, the biggest wuss that ever was. He is terrified of Tigger the cat and Tigger doesn't even have claws. He's a great dog though, he loves everybody.

This is Zeus the day we brought him home from the shelter. Do you think he was happy to get out of a cage and have a yard to run in?

This is Zena (dog) and Buddy (cat). Buddy thinks he's a dog and prefers to spend his time with Zeus and Zena instead of with Tigger. Zena is a great dog too, but does she ever have a guilty conscience. If anybody's getting hell, whether it's the other dog, one of the cats, or me, her ears go down and she gives you that big old "I'm sorry" look, even when she didn't do anything wrong.

And this is Tigger aka "bad kitty". When he isn't busy harassing the dogs it's a good bet he's into the houseplants or getting into trouble in some other way. He's one cat with a lot of attitude, yet he's also a great lap kitty.

The two knuckle heads with their "We're completely innocent of all charges your honor" look. Like anybody's buying that story.

I almost forgot Duke. He's lived with us for about 10 years now.

Brody, my two year old, 70lb, solid piece of muscle Chocolate Lab/hound of some sort. We brought him home from the shelter when he was 5 months old. He is a wonderful pet. Gentle, smart, great with kids, and always looking for attention.

No doubt, Pendleton rules our house! He's named after the whiskey! His predecessor was a boxer named Captain Morgan.

He's happy as long as he gets his required 20 hours of sleep and six solid meals per day!

Got another one from the same litter, obviously. Although, we, and everyone else thinks ours is lab/collie. I initially thought lab/pit from face structure. Who knows. I never give up the chance to shamelessly put up pictures of Isis.
