Default What is your vehicle milage?

I could not found another thread with something similar. Thought about what other people are doing on theirs when I drove back from a trip this afternoon.

My 06 Forester will hit 100k miles soon.

74,000 miles - 08 Honda Accord
142,000 miles - 04 F150 Lariat Super Crew
148,000 miles - 97 Buick Century

My last car, 96 Chevy Lumina, had 250,000+ when I got rid of it. Mechanically the car was sound but cancer got the best of her and just got too rusty.

1995 Land Rover Discovery, 228K Yard Mule. Floors rusted away, it is now a glorified forklift.

1994 Land Rover Range Rover ~205K miles, runs and drives, nice ride, but slowly rusting away.

Fuel economy of both about that of the Queen Mary!

139,000 - 2002 Lincoln Continentalk
149,000 - 2006 Toyota Corolla
48,000 - 2006 Honda Goldwing

My commute normally in my toyota is a 174 miles a day. But I'm stll recovering from a Stroke I had in june otherwise the toyota would have around 170,000

All still run great, I did have to put a new manual tranny in the toyota probably my fault I tend to be a little hard on the little car, a alternator in the mustang and a seat seat track in the lincoln.

'89 Chevy 1/2 T, 250K +. Odo stopped a couple years ago. No engine problems ever; valve covers never off. 3 trannies and 3 radiators, 3 starters, 3 sets of shocks and 3 alternators, one fuel pump. Too many tires even some wheel changes.

WTH???
I only saw one guy w/ 370k and a couple engines/transmissions.

The upside here is that GM motor's such as the 350 are a walk in the park to rebuild/replace, and minimal cost compared to replacing an import motor.

FWIW, 180k on the original motor/trans in my S10, 168k on the original motor trans in my firebird.

Also keep in mind, truck guys tend to around town their trucks day in and day out, so those 370k trucks are hard miles.

Import high milers are almost always highway commuter machines that have relatively easy miles on them...

2002 Ford F250 - 7.3l PSD: 296,560 last time I checked on the way back from Florida.

It's getting 21-23mpg on the highway, 17-18 around town.

Started chasing boredom on that trip and decided to see how well it holds boost after having installed a Banks BigHead a year ago. Holds steady at 27lbs - right where I set it when installed.

1998 Jeep TJ - 5.3l Chevy engine: 11,000 or so in the past 3 1/2 years. No idea on total engine mileage.

My '85 BMW 535i has over 260,000. My '83 Volvo wagon read 195,000 when I bought it over 10 years ago. The odometer wasn't working then, it still dosen't work. I'm guessing well over 300k miles. My '92 Honda ST1100 motorcycle reads over 117,000 miles.

2001 Tahoe LT, 5.3/4x4--140k and have done nothing but put tires and a battery in it.
1998 Camaro Z/28--70k, was DD for ~5yrs and now a 800hp street/strip machine. Put about 1k/yr on it now.
1985 Silverado SWB---absolutely no idea on miles, but at least 250-300k on the body/frame. Current 383ci/M21 drivetrain has ~40k on it. Was DD for 5yrs and currently just a driveway ornament.

My wife's 2002 BMW 325 will be 10 years old at the end of March and won't quite have 28,000 by then. I told her she can have a new car when she breaks 50,000 but I will likely be dead by then so she can do what she wants. I have a 13 year old Porsche Boxster that will turn 68,000 this week. Then there are the SUVs we had. That is where a lot of miles go. Having three vehicles does tend to keep mileage down.

2002 Mercury Mountaineer- 171,000 miles
2001 Audi TT- 46,000 miles

All run great, no major mechanical issues. Passat was my daily driver until last April when I bought the a4. Now my wife drives it and her suv sits. The Passat gets about 30 mpg and her Mountaineer is closer to 17 mpg.

Damn, I thought my car was getting up there in mileage but some of you guys are giving me hope!

Still driving my first car ( I'm 23)- 1999 Acura 3.2 TL- 166,000 miles and still going strong. A few little issues here and there, and it seems to have moments when a bunch of things break all at once, but driving it is still cheaper than a car payment! Mpg's are probably about 24 on my usual commute (300-400 miles per week approximately). It takes premium gas though which is a drag.

1984 Datsun/Nissan Maxima wagon 177,000 a little rusty and slightly loud, but still runs so smooth that a glass of water would hardly show a ripple...

1985 Volkswagen Cabriolet 151,000 high maintenance car... fun to drive

1991 Honda CR-X 168,000 very reliable, just like the Maxima

1997 Chevrolet Suburban 210,000 Reliable as well, few major problems over its lifetime, looks not too far from new.

1996 Ford Ranger 140,000 slightly beat up, runs good and drive good.

2005 Ford Taurus 150,000 used rental car bought at 24,000 miles, few problems

1987 Cabriolet parts car 94,000 (PO got hit head on, crash totaled both cars) was mint until said accident.

1998 Ski-Doo MX-Z 440 Fan 8,800 miles still got 120psi of compression in both cylinders

1998 Ski-Doo Formula Z 583 5,300 miles fast and purple... nice suspension and smooth ride

1979 John Deere 317 2,450 hours on rebuilt Kohler KT17 Series II burns a little oil

The last three qualify as vehicles, right?

I have a 2000 Sierra with 260,000 miles. I had the transmission rebuilt and replaced alternator. It gets around 16 mpg, doesn’t use any oil and gets me to work every day. I have a 2009 Silverado but will drive the old truck as long as I can.

MPG? $PG?

Who cares?

If I had a choice, I'd start looking.

What ever the cost, I'm still going to drive.

Sounds like a deuce and a half would be perfect for you... I hear they get about 8 mpg at best, top out at 55 mph, usually with a tailwind... and are expensive to plate in order to legally drive it on the road.

Insurance might be cheap, though. If you weld the frame where the front and back halves are riveted together, it won't suffer damage, even if you ran through a brick wall...

99 F350 4x4 Super Duty Ford, 90,000. MPG? Not all that bad
07 GMC Yukon XL, 78,000. MPG about 14.5 mostly in town.
69 Shelby Mustang GT 500, 68,000. About 8 MPG

Just maintaining the vehicles to a high standard. They run well paid off. They were all bought used.

Zero problems with the 6.2. I bought this truck a couple years ago. It's probably my 5th 6.2 diesel (non turbo). I have loved every one of them, except a (I think) '84 Jimmy, which ran well, but got horrible mileage. This half ton is very rare, which is kinda why I bought it, not to mention the last year for the 6.2. The engine and tranny were replaced before I bought it, at around 240K. It gets as much as 26 MPG on the highway, which is pretty nice.

1994 Maxima - 135,000 (My first car)

Bought it with 69,000 for $400 (Harmonic balancer came off, snapped the crank, pistons hit valves). I put a crank in it, cut the valves, new timing belt, front pipe, and rings. Aside from regular maintenance, I put struts in it and had to rebuild the transmission (too much trailer towing. OOPS). I love this car and honestly don't ever want to get rid of it!

My '06 work van has 105,000 on it, when I was given it, there was just shy of 9k on the clock, I've had it around 2.5 years I'd say.

1997 Ford F 250HD 278,000 which replaced my 1993 Ford F150 with 310,000. on it. I had to replace the transmission on the F150 3 times, but other than altenators, and polish tuneups, nothing else needed to be done to it. Of, course brakes, tires, and the usual maintenance of course.
I just bought a 1953 Ford F800 with 13000 miles on it. I figure I can go a long time with that truck

Current vehicle: '07 Toyota Tacoma V6 4x4 - 103,000+ . Bought it used in '09 w/ 42k miles. The only thing that's gone "wrong" was replacing the OE battery at 45k miles. I will keep this truck til the wheels fall off, then put them back on and keep driving.

Previous vehicle: '97 Honda accord 4cyl 5spd (Bought in '03 w/ 111k, sold in '09) it had 211k miles on it when I sold it of which 50k were turbocharged (stock motor) running 12psi of boost. Compression was still 160psi across the board when I sold it. It still ran perfect. The only things I ever had to replace on that car due to failure was a battery at 120k, The starter around 125k, The valve cover gasket (was leaking oil into the spark plug tube), the EGR valve gasket (vacuum leak) @175k, Cooling Fan relay @200k, radiator @160k, Driver's side power window motor @120k, I had to replace the front brakes only once (gotta love engine braking with the 5spd). The rear drums still had about 50% life in them at 211k miles. That equals about $400 in repairs over the 6 years and 100k miles I owned it.

Before that was a '94 Honda Accord 4cyl auto. 152,000. Totalled in '03 by an old woman who didn't yield and pulled out in front of me.

basic 3.0 engine.
when it was our only car / new it would MAYBE do 18-20 back and forth to work 30 mile round trip. And that was with my wife driving it...You couldn't drive a car any easier than she does, short of pushing it.
Got tired of taking it back to the dealer complaining about the gas mileage.
everything always checked out OK. Actually had a service writer at another Ford dealership tell me "yes 15 -22 mpg is about right for that car. Now that the car is serving duty as my son's driver to school 3 miles round trip the last fill up netted us 11 mpg .
Cold weather/17 year old boy driving/extended idling all contributed to the 11mpg I know.
We have accepted the poor mileage ,because its paid for ,doesn't go far now and frankly runs perfect. Oh yea have a good friend that is a way better mechanic than I am that owned a 2001 Sable with the same 3.0 .
Same thing, ran great but crappy gas mileage. about like our Taurus. 15 -20mpg.
The pisser is that the 91 Taurus we traded in would do 25 mpg no sweat .

11 Impala LS 35K, got it last month.
01 Kawasaki Nomad 17K, 2 wheeled shrink.

I wish I still had my 06 Jetta TDI, that car got 42 mpg, and was fun to drive. That fun got me many points on my license, but a failure to stop by a kid who had lost his license totaled it.

1997 f150 5.4 412,000miles, second engine, but the first one was replaced under warranty at 10K after it threw a rod idling at a stoplight...no major problems since then though.

1988 Alfa Romeo Spider 112,000mi. Rarely driven

2003 Subaru WRX 130,000K but gets driven 600+ highly abusive miles every week these days. I would buy another of these in a heartbeat, but this one shows no sign of needing replacement soon.

In the rust belt it is sometimes difficult to keep a car a long time if it is driven during the winter. Around here they start dumping the salt (or worse yet, calcium chloride) on the road at the first frost. It seems that they try to pile the salt higher than any snow accumulation.
I usually keep a vehicle until it's completely worn out and therefore I have one dedicated winter driver to take the abuse. It sure is nice to work under a car and be able to easily unscrew bolts that are not rusty, see the factory paint still on the frame and suspension and not watch the body slowly returning to the earth.

04 Subaru Forester XT 135K winter driver, just bought to replace 87 Audi
99 Ford Ranger 2.5L 4 cyl./5sp 160K daily driver non winter months
97 Dodge One Ton Van 125K tow vehicle, Florida vehicle, never in salt
83 Audi Quattro 107K original ur-Quattro coupe
77 Ferrari 308 GT4 77K (equivalent to 300K per most Ferrari buyers)
86 GMC conversion van 190K Florida vehicle in family since new, tired
87 Audi 5K TQ 300K good body & drivetrain, but suspension and subframes rusted badly, going to the scrapyard as soon as I pull the engine

My wife only trusts the first two. She claims to have no issue with cars over 100K, but then thinks I'm crazy if I drive the truck or Buick out of town for business. LeSabre did a 1400 mile round trip in 2-1/2 days a couple months back. Truck has done a few 900 mile round trips this past year too. I might start worrying once over 200K.

'96 Chevy s10 2.2 liter, 5 speed manual 252k Runs good, rust is bad. Original engine bottom and new head at 100k.

'07 Honda Accord 2.4 liter, 5 speed manual. 135K. Has not required any repairs at all. Still on original brakes. Cheapest car I have ever owned to operate and maintain. MPG averages 33 with several highs at 38. Pretty peppy performance from the VTEC. Pulls 115 mph if you hold your foot down long enough.

1984 Z28 114,000
2003 ZZR 1200 Kawasaki 22,000
1990 GMC K1500 389,000 (that is correct) However about the only original parts left are the body, interior(mostly) and the chassis itself. Virtually everything else has been rebuilt, replaced and or re-painted
