Default Aflac-is it worth it?

I have the opportunity to get Aflac through my employer and a decent rate. Anyone have any experience with them?

i had them for 4 years. never was able to use it. i ended up dropping it. some of their plans are kinda like cable tv. in order to get one service covered you have to buy the next tier. they make it sound cheap "only $17 per pay period before tax" well, $34 a month is a lot of money when you don't make a lot of money and you're paying $500 a month already for health care. and you usually have to double the price to cover a spouse.

other than that i can't speak for their service.

if you get sick a lot its probably a good deal.

WE had it until my wife retired a few weeks ago. They offered to allow us to continue, but I don't think we will...

Its just short term disability insurance.
You can usually do better if you shop around.

I personally have never had them however I had a neice who had a cancer policy through them. She was diagnosed with a very serious form of leukemia 3 years ago. She had several operations to remove blood clots, went through 2 years of chemo, and brain radiation therapy. Her prescription bills during this time were $1400 a month! They paid up and she had no problems with insurance payments. BTW, she is in remission now and is graduating this May with her PhD! Praise the Lord!

I have it but have fortumately never had to use it. I have it for disability, 80% of my current pay for up to 18 months.
For me it's cheap peace of mind.

From my exprience, Aflac is a good company. The agents are super helpful and they pay out with no hassle.

There are so many variables, that it's hard to say if "īt's worth it". Example: I've used the accident policy twice in one year for poison ivy treatment and the policy more than paid for itself. However, my wife recently cut her finger pretty bad and had to go to the ER. Total bill came to over $3000, and the accident policy only covered $350 of that.

I dropped the accident coverage but kept the life and short term disability. From the research I've done, they seem like pretty good deals. Also, at least in my case, the premium is taken out of my paycheck and is paid with pre-tax income.

Af Lac is super insurance my wife has it at work covers both of us. It has more than paid for itself and they pay out without a problem and in a very reasonable amount of time. Do not know what we did before she had it but it is very nice to have the peace of mind.

Some of the guys at work still have the accident policy. They seem to make out when they go to the chiropractor. One of the has another company in addition to the AFLAC so he gets double when he goes.

I think he is using it to make the payment on his Kubota. lol

Why not just save money and when something happens use that money to pay bills?

Unless you become disabled or become diagnosed with some disease which renders you unable to work long term, I don't see how it would pay off.

The accident policy was $25 a month pre-tax. One of the guys got stung by a bee and is allergic to them. He went to the ER since started having problems. Once they found out his mother died from a heart attack and he was having tightening in his chest they admitted him. He spent a night in the hospital and all turned out OK. All said and done,he got a check from AFLAC for $1300.

1300, 25 a month would take over 4 years to save up.

We had it through my wife's job. It was great for her and my son. Both used it a lot and it paid well. I never had to use it though for myself. It's worth it.

I would get it. We are on our second claim right now due to cancer. They have paid us a whole lot more than we have paid them.
That is one of those things you pay for and hope there is no need for it.
