Default Craftsman "red" spray paint

Does anyone know what spray paint brand and color is the closest match to the Craftsman red on their toolboxes???

Sunset? I THOUGHT it was called "Sunrise"? I could be wrong. Anyway, I used Rusto's red too and it matched nicely.

I have a stack of three Craftsman boxes. The middle was bought about five years after the other pieces. The red on the older pieces faded noticeably compared to the new one. So Craftsman red is kind of a moving target. But I've used Rustoleum Regal Red and been satisfied with the match. Sunrise red is a little light, to my eye.

This picture doesn't show the fade in the red so much. But if you look at the middle box on the right, you can see that the satin black on the drawers is a lot darker than the drawer faces on the sections above and below it.

I used Rustoleum Sunrise Red in Gloss on my garage fridge. It is really bright. I love it!

I have to agree that Regal Red is a much better match...but for 3-4 bucks just pick up a can of each...spray a piece of scrap whatever and hold it up to whatever you want it to match and then decide. Then you can use the wrong color as a base coat/primer

Gore is right. I'd be surprised if Craftsman has kept the exact same red over all these years. It could be that what matches my boxes wouldn't match a newer (or older) set. Bring a lid or a drawer or a red piece in to the hardware store and compare it to the samples, then try the two closest matches and choose your winner.

I found that Rustolium Regal Red is the best match for me. Here is an example up close: http://garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=142481 . Hope that helps!

Thanks. It started out as a single Equipto unit with gold handles.

What's missing, Gregishome? The locks on my Craftsman boxes? Ball bearings on their slides? Labels on the bench drawers? A finger saver on the vise handle? A fifth base support on the chair?

If your trying to match an existing Craftsman toolbox; bring a detachable part of the box (if its possible) to a auto body shop and get a custom paint match done; and use automotive paint to spray your box.
