Took yesterday off work and had a retired buddy give me a hand with the vapor barrier, 2" foam, wire mesh, and PEX. Got 5 of 6 rolls of PEX done. My contractor had a job to bid my way, so he came by to see how I was coming. Said everything looked good. I'm really happy with him! He seems to be doing a great job, he's been punctual, and returned my calls.

I also took this afternoon off to finish the last loop, add some insulation up the block, set and pressure test the manifold. Had to tighten the heck out of the compression fittings! Still have a few pieces of foam to put around the perimeter and need to fill the tubes with water before they pour It started raining and I decided to take pictures and call it a day. Took 100+ pictures of the tubes and a tape measure so hopefully I'll know where the tubes are if I ever need to.

Also the neighbor stopped by (the one who owns the HUGE pole barns in some of my pics and told me what a great job I was doing.

Here are a few pictures:

My slab was poured today. Was originally scheduled for Thursday, but the forecast wasn't so good, so they delayed which worked out well as I had a few things to finish up when it started raining wednesday night

As far as I can tell, they did a superb job! First truck pulled in the driveway at 8:12, and the 3rd truck was hosing off his chute at 9:21. Unbelievable!

Now for the proof:

Don't have any pics, but thought I'd give an update. Spent most of the week trying to get quotes on my materials and finally started placing order/picking up yesterday. Got my bottom plates laid out and got my studs precut (too cheap to buy 10' precuts). Hopefully start assembling some walls tomorrow.

This is going to be a slow build. I'm by myself most of the time and generally work 7-5 or so.

Just a quickie and my 100th post. Nailed studs to 60 ft of bottom plate tonight. Talked myself into hand nailing galvanized nails into the PT bottom plate, and didn't feel like dragging the compressor out tonight or I'd have done the tops as well. Hoping to get walls up this weekend and start getting some sheathing on.

Here's a pic:

Hope you have a few helpers to raise that wall or is it in segments.

You must be slowly smiling as it takes shape.

Oh no, it's all in 10' sections. I can't imagine trying to get all that up and braced at once! Hmm speaking of bracing, I'm going to need some stakes.

Your floor finish looks really good. When the fella done mine he had just finished the last powerfloat pass when the heavens opened and a downpour took off the smooth surface. He never managed to get it covered in time

Yeah, I was really happy with the work they did. Would definitely hire him again.

I did a little sidewalk up to my steps and had a downpour as I was trying to get the control joints cut. It has a non-skid finish, I'll say that much. One of these days I may try to put some resurfacer on it.

Sidewalls are 10' plus 3" of concrete block above the slab. There will be a lift bay with a higher ceiling. That's all I'm saying right now.

Had some help today and got 3 of my walls up. Also had another load of materials delivered (OSB, some lumber, 18' garage door, patio door). here are a couple pictures. I finished the top plates and added some more bracing after these were taken.

This afternoon I got 5 windows framed and 4' of sheathing around 3 sides. I had a little miscalculation on my window framing and ended up adding some additional studs because I originally put the kings in the wrong place. Oh well, $10 worth of wood. It started to rain just as I was getting the last piece up and gave me enough time to get my tools put away.

I'm hoping to get the rest of the sheathing and the housewrap up this week. I have some other stuff going on next weekend and may not have much time for the build. Trusses and LVLs are scheduled to come sometime next week and the plan is to rent some equipment and set trusses over Memorial Day weekend.

Looks great!! Wish I had that much room. The wife's never lived anywhere without sidewalks.
