Default Pressure Washer won't start.

Was recently helping my dad out clean the concrete on the back porch and decided to bring out his pressure washer. Turns out this thing has been sitting for about 4 years in the shed and it's refusing to start. He says he used fuel stabilizer before putting it away last, but I'm sure it doesn't last that long. Changed the plug but still nothing. It DOES start for a few seconds when starting fluid is sprayed into the carb.

Also, maybe a related problem, but adjusting the throttle lever doesn't seem to do anything. Either the springs aren't in the right place or they've gone bad.

I would clean any old fuel out and check the lines to the carb. I had to pull the sparkplug on my pressure washer clean it with carb cleaner and spray into the combustion chamber with carb cleaner to get mine to start from storage.

The main jet is clogged. Pull the bowl and remove the jet.

What he said. Clean the carb and get it running and then see if there is a problem with the throttle.

I always try to run mine out of gas before storage, even Stabil can't work miracles. I also have made it a habit to hold the nozzle trigger open when pulling the starter cord to preclude any back pressure problems. Just my $0.02.

As said above.. main jet.

I have a craftsman self-propelled lawnmower that requires me to pull the jet every Spring and use a torch tip cleaner to clean it out. Doesn't matter what I do to winterize it or drain tank and bowl. It was frustrating the first time I had to figure this out the hard way but now I know what to go to every time.

Make sure a mouse hasn't built a nest in it anywhere. I've had mice build nest in mufflers before. I had a huge mouse nest in my JD tractor one year. The wife had some Indian Corn in the shed, a mouse peeled all of the kernels off of it, and I found it all in the air cleaner when it wouldn't start on me.

Your springs are alright where they are. The spring is for the governor. When it's running and gets a load on the engine, that's when you will see the spring move.

Don't worry. It takes a while to drive over to China and pick up a new load. Give him time.
