Default Best pegboard hooks?

There's a ton of companies that make all kinds of assorted pegboard hooks....who's the best in your opinion? Hooks that fit brown standard pegboard and stay in place?

I noticed that some don't have a bottom peg but a plastic clip that goes between 2 holes and holds the bottom of the hook or peg. Stay away from them, they suck wombat ass. Get the plain old top bent and bottom peg welded on hooks or double top pegs for bigger hooks.

I reccommend these:

http://wallpegstore.com/product-cate...egboard-hooks/

They are plastic, made in the USA, and pretty reasonably priced IMO. They offer a few types that are basically going to cover all your needs, from single, light tools to larger, heavier stuff.

They have a presence on eBay in addition to their website, linked above.

I bought an assortment and like them. They are strong and their design is such that they are not just going to fall out or easily be pulled out of your board once snapped into place.

X2^^^^

Great value. Awesome Price. Real good customer service.
I've never had one break. I have a truck tailgate hanging from two of the J-hooks.

Stay-Put or Durahook. Both have a thick screw that goes into one of the holes so the hook never comes loose.

I have many misc. tools on my bench that fit on the Chinese hooks the big box stores have. I just places an order of the 80 piece set.

It seems they are local to me...I saw that if you send them a self-stamped envelope they will even send you a free sample!

I'll +1 for Jack. DuraHooks are pretty awesome and I use them as often as possible. Some stuff is fine on regular hooks but things that are used often or have parts that can catch, the DuraHooks really are an advantage.

Agreed that the screw-in type are best and the ones with the thin black plastic thingy is junk, BUT the PO of my house put pegboard all through the shop and left a box of assorted pegs. Being cheap, I repainted them from rust to silver and so I'll probably never BUY any. I've seen boxes of pegboard hooks for a couple bucks at garage sales too.

How strong are they if they are plastic though...? That seems to kill it for me? I do like that they come in black, but it just doesn't seem as strong to me as the metal ones I have now..

I'm actually torn between these two:

I like these, because they are cheap and come in black... but plastic..

http://wallpegstore.com/product/pegb...accessory-set/

these are all metal and look decent... priced slightly higher but I imagine due to being all metal...

I just hung peg board up and have been struggling to come up with a solution for pliers and screwdrivers. I like the ones jack posted.

I went and bought an assortment from the blue box store and they seem to be fine. They stay in the board and hold plenty of weight but I need a better solution

I've bought from both of them. Highly pleased with each company.

If you had to choose one over another which would you choose and why?

I like the idea that the plastic ones aren't going to eventually scratch or take the finish of my gun smith tools and things like that. But they are plastic...lol Maybe that's good because they are lighter than the metal ones?

The metal ones look decent.

I have the 1/8 pegs now and thought they work fine with 1/4 hole pegboard I'd really perfer to have the thicker hooks... Both seem nice honestly. I don't want to have to spend money and get both...hahah $70 in peghooks seems silly but I can see myself doing it just to try them both..

What are you going to be hanging up? What is the heaviest thing? The plastic hooks I linked to aren't cheeseball HF type plastic. They are thick and don't feel brittle. If you are going to hang bowling balls, I reckon you might have some trouble, but for the type of stuff I can see going on a pegboard, I don't think there is an issue.

Planning on hanging a couple small hammers, and misc gun working tools, pics, punches... Nothing like drills, or anything like that. I have cabinets and my second tool chest downstairs... this is pretty much my "modding" room... things that need to be worked on that don't require large sockets/wrenches..etc. I might do the plastic pegs then, since I can get about 150pieces for less than the metal ones listed above...

My peg board is white, so I was thinking on black pegs and red boxes.. think that would look right? I like contrasting colors, and feel white would be too hard to see where the hooks are on a white board...

Oh, for that kind of stuff, these plastic pegs that I have would be more than adequate. I am hanging some pipe wrenches (not aluminum) on one of my metal pegboards with these hooks, and they aren't in danger of breaking. The largest wrench is maybe 18 or 24", can't recall.

I bought white pegs for my red boards. I wish I had gone with black, not sure why, my eye just isn't loving the white pegs. If your boards are white, then I would agree with the black pegs.
