Other than the ones that we get directly from Honda made specifically for Honda filters. I use the top one you have pictured. It works great. The 3 finger ones don't seem to have the same "bite"

I have used the craftsman on hondas, nissan, and hyundai. It works very good.

It wont work on toyota's small filters... They are too small.

If i were to buy again, i'd get a spring loaded one. Is #1 spring loaded?

The one in your first picture is the best. The others shown are junk.

Lisle makes 2 sizes. Should I get the Lisle 63250 or 63600 Oil Filter Tool? The Honda oil filters are really small but Hyundai and Nissan oil filters are larger.

Lisle 63250 = oil filters from 3 1/8" to 3 7/8" in diameter

Lisle 63600 oil filters from 2-1/2" to 3-1/8" in diameter

I've only used the bigger size on old Toyota Land Cruisers.

First one, however there are time you will need 3 jaw one like Craftsman. If you apply too much pressure on those thin jaws, it will bent out.

Also, the HF one sucks, the fingers are not really long enough to get a good grip since oil filters have a convex bottom.

Current Hyundai Sonatas (2.4 L and 2.0 L turbo) do not use cartridge filters.

The Lisle (first) one by far. I have and despise the 3 prong ones.

btw, Honda still use metal oil filters, but some of Nissan, Hyundai use canister oil filter. So you are going to need oil filter caps too.

Hazet 2172 is the best. I actually got it specifically due to overtightened filters on Honda B20 engines. Thats probably one of the most inconvenient filter placements on any passanger vehicle. Dont waste your time with any other adjustables. Its expensive (around $80 i think) but compare that to having 3 or 4 different styles that barely work. Plus the hazet has a much wider range of adjustment. Also worth having is a strap model, and a set of the caps.

I have the Lisle, and a bunch of others that don't get used anymore. The design of it is very good, and it removed a filter from my wife's Honda that no other wrench would

If that's the only Hyundai's you work on then you are right.

why is the oil filter so tight to begin with?

I do use filter tool to remove the oil filter, but with very minimum effort.

Here's a vote for the Craftsman, would be lost at work without it. Gets borrowed daily for those filters that cups and pliers won't move.

The HF version has the right idea, but the little red socks are worthless and doesn't have enough reach.

The Lisle wrenches are great except for the little springs that tension the jaws; seen the springs fly out and make the wrench a paperweight.

Will the Lisle 63250 (oil filters from 3 1/8" to 3 7/8" in diameter) fit on the larger Honda S2000 oil filters or on Toyota Tacoma oil filters?

From the factory it was very tight. Not sure why, and I doubt the dealer touched it.

I use a lot of the swivel head band filters but on the new cars with engines in the front it can be a toss up. I have 6 different ones. Only because my family buys different cars. I am a Ford man. If it doesn't have a V8 I don't own it and never will.

I had a neighbor 33 years ago that had a filter on his new car that was so tight that I had to use a chain pipe wrench to get it off. I crushed it to death but I got it off for him. They are not all the expensive and You will find you will need different types. I wish they would make everthing standard. It would be nice if they put an allen socket in the end of the bloody things. That would make it simple.
