Default Wayne Body International Bread Truck?

So I saw this truck the other day in my neighborhood and basically fell in love, but haven't been able to find anything more about it. Says International on the Hood, and Wayne in a couple other places. Found some info on each but not much on them together. Bonus points, it's got a dually axle in the back, but the box isn't that wide.
Says South Dakota State Forestry on the side, and is currently parked in waiting as a moving van.
Somebody fill me in here.

Maybe a International Metro van? but what's the Wayne bit...

Wayne built the body in an IH chassis.

Wayne is a big school bus builder.
Often on IH chassis

Sure, but this looks nothing like a bus. Maybe it's just me, but this one piqued my curiosity. Thought it was a Grumman/Olson at first, then I saw the painted over Wayne. Still I'm curious, what might this build be called? And what chassis with the dually?

Looks like an armored car with the door window configuration.

I've kinda wanted an old UPS truck for a while. It's my understanding that UPS parts out and destroys their vehicles after they've reached the end of their service life, whereas Fed-Ex will sell some of it's trucks.

Yeah, there's a South Dakota Forestry Cooperative sign on the side, I was thinking some sort of wildland firefighting...

Makes sense, it's got some pretty knobby tires in the back

If you're interested, there's a '79 Grumman on ebay. No bids and less than a day left. $2500.

Located in Illinois, about 75 miles south of Chicago.

The fedex trucks are operator owned - you can find 'em for 3500-6k when they're retired or a guy gives up his route. Watch out for the "depot trucks" which are spares that get passed around between drivers when their regular truck is out of service. They're company owned and usually really trashed.

Don't know about UPS trucks - don't think I've ever seen one that was privately owned.
Same for newer USPS vans. You might be right, they're all scrapped or recycled?

I'm not an expert but the van in the OP is probably a contract-built truck - as in UPS/USPS/US government ordered a particular batch of trucks and wayne built the body on an IH chassis. I'd guess early 70's?

Also, probably not originally a dually. Note the front wheel is offset like a 3/4 ton truck and the rear duals stick out past the body.

Cool find!

There will be thousands of these for sale soon: all will have recently removed decals saying things like "Wonder Bread" and "Hostess Twinkies"

Just look for "step van" in craigslist. You can find them dirt cheap. Some of them even have diesel engines in them. A lot of them have aluminum bodies, so they don't rust.

They have huge cargo space. A relative of mine used to have one for a surveying job he had.

Exactly! I think this is what got me - looks like a custom or modified. I mean, regular step-vans are cool and all, but one that's set up to go off road? With a special hood for easy engine access, now that's interesting.
