Default Hanging OSB

Is it best to use screws or nails?? Got about 48 sheets to hang Monday.

I personally like screws but it can be nailed too. Nailing is faster especially if you have a gun. If you ever need to remove a sheet to get inside the wall, you might as well plan on getting a new one to replace it. With screws they come off the wall much easier.

Edit: I might also add to that, that I did have buckets of 1 1/4" and 1 5/8" screws laying around left over from jobs. So that sort of drove my decision as well.

Knowing how long it would take to screw, Id never bother with anything but an 8D gun nail

It may very well be nails then...since I've got a whole box of 8D (that were given to me)for my nailgun.

No...at least not at this time. It's going on the outer walls, before the steel panels go on.

Use a 1/2" crown stapler. It's all I use for fastening structural panels. Although we typically attach the osb sheets when the wall is lying flat. I never understood why you guys put them on after the wall is standing.

In that case I have to go with the gun nails or staples as well. Sorry, for some reason, I was thinking you were talking about interior walls.

In reality I guess I'll be using both nails and screws (nails to hang the OSB, then screws to hang the steel panels.)

I was also thinking interior. Outside use the nail gun, interior use screws.

Exterior!

For exterior I only use an 8D galvanized ring shank gun nail.
