Lightbulb Dodge Ram 1500 EcoDiesel 3 ltr for 2014

Ran across couple YouTubes talking about Dodge Ram 1500 pickup for 2014
that will have . . . . .
3.0 ltr v6 EcoDiesel.

Says expected mpg will be upper 20's (like 28 mpg), yet with 420 ft lbs of torque !!

Also think that Dodge has really cleaned up the body lines and now have a really nice looking pickup. This is really a move in right direction, and could be a great pickup with plenty of towing power.

Cant out tow the hemi, Less power full than the hemi, barely gets better gas mileage than the hemi, not as cool as the hemi, more expensive than the hemi.

I love dodge, its my go to brand, but i dont know why i would buy the ecodiesel.

I build these trucks. It is crazy to me how quiet these are rolling off the line. I'm used to the loud powerful sounding diesels in the big trucks. I'm interested to see how a non cummins ram diesel sells. It's a different market, hopefully it does well.

What? The Hemi engine in these trucks has always been a pig on fuel. You're lucky to get high teens on the highway let alone how bad it gets in city driving. 25+ mpg would be a massive improvement.

2014 claims low 20's. Plus, at least around here diesel is a decent amount more expensive.

For the V6 I can believe that, not for the Hemi. Every epa combined mpg rating I've seen on the 2014 models has been 15-16mpg and that's right off the sticker which itself has a habit of being on the generous side.

edit, also forgot to add they've been specing 89 octane fuel for the 5.7 for some time now as well which adds that little bit more to operating costs.

With the Fiat connection, this could be stepping stone to the ULTIMATE factory pickup . . . . . . BLENDED FUEL with 25% diesel and 75% CNG (compressed natural gas). Fiat is experienced in cng vehicles in Europe.

Realistic that 400 HP and 500+ ft lbs torque could be achieved on Blend Fuel, and be driving for effective cost per gallon of around $2/gal (Oklahoma anyway) which is around 7 cents a mile if 30 mpg could be achieved. This is same as Toyota Prius on premium petrol when getting 60 mpg. I'd sure rather be driving that Dodge pickup than Pee-on-us !!

Big tractor trucks are doing the Blend Fuel right now . . . it will get back to pickup trucks when more public cng pumps are installed across USA.

/ future dream
[ hope a GJer gets one of these Dodge EcoDiesels for feedback to all ]

I gotta say I love the excitement I see over this truck. It's awesome to love what I build and see a lot of other people love it too. Go buy one

This may very well be my next truck, I'll see what kind of feedback they get after a year or so in the real world. I'm currently driving a Hemi after multiple Cummins diesels and I'm disappointed with fuel economy. I would gladly give up some performance in exchange for fuel mileage. I was ready to trade in my current truck for a new Pentastar V6, the only reason I didn't go with that is I was not able to get a 6'7" box and a crew cab. I will never own another truck with a 5'5" box....I think the diesel might be the best of both worlds.

I've owned a couple of modern Hemi powered trucks and you can't get 20 mpg rolling down hill drafting a semi. It's the only complaint I've ever had about the trucks. My Tbird is averaging 12-13 and the Dodge will get 13.2 for the same trips.

Originally designed for the European Cadillac CTS Prior to Fiat's 50% ownership.

FYI GM is selling the remaining 50% to Fiat by the end of the year.

I take it this is the same giant expensive, non user friendly junk engine they have been putting in sprinters the last 5 years? There will be lots of dead dodges In 5 years no one can afford to fix. Just like the sprinters
