I won't say I got a screaming deal on this or anything, but it's the kind of item that I like to jump on when I see it. 75 compartments of sturdy storage for tools, hardware, and miscellaneous whatever. I spent the weekend in Jersey, so decided to peruse the Craigslist classifieds and got lucky. The draws measure 10.5 x 2.75 x 3 and the whole unit is 50 x 19 x 12. Should hold lots of stuff!
I think I'll mount it to a wall, but the top of a workbench is also an option. Edit: I am unable to copy and paste the images from the CL ad. So, I will have to take pics tomorrow after I pick it up and then post them. Guess I'm posting prematurely, but was excited to share with the only other people who might care i.e. garage people!

I assume it's made of metal...congrats on the find!
I have been on a look out for something similar for my garage since last month in my area. Post up the photo, when you get the chance.

Wood fronts and galvanized draw sides/bottoms.
I will indeed post pics tomorrow afternoon. I am glad to have a place to share an appreciation of this stuff. My wife is supportive, but obviously doesn't fully "get" what is so exciting about tools and storage lol.

I picked up two of these Wed. night from Craigslist 30 miles away.
metal cabinet with drawers 30in wide 36in high and 16in deep. 30 drawers/unit. They are metal on metal slides and I doubt they will suitable for any real heavy stuff but they still can help in my shop trinket organization - I think. It will take some time to remove the extra labels from the drawers.

I am so stoked about this thing! The seller was a great guy...works from home restoring motocross bikes. Had a nice setup.
This piece looks home made for sure, but whoever made it spent A LOT of time and knew what they were doing. The frame is wood. There is a sheet metal back. The draws (is the appropriate term "draw" or drawer"?) have wooden fronts and rears and formed sheet metal bodies. There are no "slides" or rails, the draws just slide on the wood of the unit itself. The action is surprisingly smooth. I loaded one up with all the sockets I could fit in it, another with a pile of 3/8 ratchets, and in both cases the draws just glided right out. Such a good find, although I did pay $100 for it. Not a steal, but well worth it, IMO. There are three sizes of draws, as pictured. Some are open, others have dividers. The seller gave me a pile of small brass nails and extra pulls/tag holders for the fronts, too. ![]() ![]()

Cool.
Also -- I've found stuff like that (though often made of metal) at library sales. Today's equivalent in wood or metal found in material handling catalogs is insanely expensive. |

A year or so ago, my school's librarian was putting the old car catalog up for grabs...I should have grabbed it, but at the time did not have the room.
