Talking My 30x40 build on the Gulf Coast (((CajunFirehawk)))

Long story short, for the last 10 years or so we have always come up short on garage type storage at our new home so my bucket list included a nice shop with a car lift. After researching pole barns in my area which are very popular, I decided to proceed with one since they were cost effective however after calling several local vendors, their work backlog was unbelievable, 12-18 wks in some cases. During a weekend get away to Texas for the NHRA spring nationals, I passed several metal building firms and wrote their info down. After much research, and most of it on this forum, I decided to go with a Muller Buildings 30x40x12, which they sell as an "off the shelf" kit known as their Big Workshop, once the building was ordered, I had to move on to a cement contractor and acquire a building permit. I got my permit and three quotes from local cement vendors and choose one. Cement pour was finally yesterday (10/8/15) and it went well, 28 yds of cement later, its all done.
Its a 30'x40'x5"@ 4000 psi slab with 15'x24'x4" @ 3000 psi driveway extension which came in just over $9k

More to come, building gets delivered next friday 10/16/15
Plans for this build are:
  • LED lighting
  • Spray foam insulation
  • Bendpak 4 post lift
  • toilet,shower,sink
  • floor coating or tile

What is the minimum height for a garage auto lift - I see your ceilings are 12' I was curious if 10 or 11ft would also work.

Not sure, there are so many variables but I did a lot of research on this forum and lots of folks go with 12'...YMMV

I can only see the last picture. Does the slab have any expansion joints in it or are they not needed? I see in your first post you are doing a toilet and sink. Is the plumbing running to the shop yet? Like I said I can only see the last picture?

And the only expansion joints are at the building slab and driveway (where the roll up door goes)
Shot this pic as we were washing my car...

In the above post, they top picture is just a circle with a minus sign. The bottom picture of your car is there.

Yeah, me too. Most 'pics' have circle with minus sign, like this:

I can see all your pictures. first time viewing the thread. building looks good so far! Also, how often do you have to run out to your driveway to break up fights? A Ford, Dodge and GM vehicle living in harmony

More pics of the cars when you get a chance.
