Default Canadian Tire - Good deal on tool set!

http://www.canadiantire.ca/browse/pr...350#product_aa

207 pc socket/wrench/ratchet set. Mastercraft Maximum, which is Canadian Tires 'pro' brand. Very nice stuff from what I've seen in the past.

On sale for $140 CAN! This is cheap for a lot of nice tools. I have a small socket set now and a bunch of ratchets but these are much nicer and a larger variety.

I'll probably sell/give away the wrenches as I already have most of them.

Anybody else in Canada have many Mastercraft Maximum tools (or this set)?

I use the Maximum stuff every day , all day at work.

The sockets are virtually bullet proof even on my impact.

The gear wrenches are made by Gearwrench and are great ( same as craftsman ) however I recommend getting the Gearwrench 16 piece metric and 13 piece standard offset packs the first time as the mastercraft sets do not have all sizes.

The maximum standard ratchets are great also with the exception of the small head maximum unit which is trash. There is also a gear wrench style ratchet pack available (where you can swap in different heads) which is trash.

AVOID THEIR SWIVEL SOCKETS . Buy Snap On Swivels.

Sockets, extensions etc are bulletproof. Best bang for the buck and I beat the crap out of them.

Also I recommend waiting for the "big bulk box" of Maximum sockets and ratchets to come on sale. Much better set. It does not have trays etc but it has a way better selection of maximum sockets and skips very few sizes.

This kit is trying to do too much .

Just did some more searching. The only other big maximum set I see is the 259 piece which is the very similar to the above just a few more.

Not sure they sell it any more. I cant remember how many pieces it had but It came in a big cardboard box ( no trays ) and had a massive selection of sockets .

Those are both great deals though. You will love them.

Lube those ratchets inside with bearing grease and they run even better. Not too much or they will go kick into neutral. The fix is to reduce the grease by the indexing ball bearings.

Stupid CA tire. Won't even let me browse their site if I put in a USA postal code. Stupid!

They only have stores in Canada, so just pop in a Canadian Postal code. Try M4B 1B3 .

I had the same set when i started out, only had 2 issues with it. the 3/8 ratchet kept striping teeth and the "laser etching" on the tools all wore off in about 2 weeks
I picked up on of the similar sets that NAPA sells that come on sale often and have liked it much better.

I was / am a bit concerned about the etching as well, it looks very 'painted on' and cheap looking, bit dissapointed about that.

Hopefully mine hold up longer than 2 weeks
