Default DIY Power Bank

Found on Reddit... It's a pretty smart idea for building your own power bank. The fabrication could have been cleaner, but the idea is pretty solid.

I honestly thought he was trolling but I really think he didn't know.

LMAO. I'm not sure how I missed the build thread, but I almost fell out of my chair when the links led me full circle back here.

Kind of surprised Ryan didn't see it in the fabrication thread.

haha... I literally had no idea it started here. Despite what a lot of folks believe, I don't read every thread. I literally couldn't and still make a living. I sure try though.

But man, makes me happy it started here!

These posts are automated to an extent I think. Not sure if they are totally auto posted or if Ryan clicks a box and it gets posted, nonetheless, he didn't spend a ton of time checking old threads.

I THINK

Nope. Nothing is automated. I was on Reddit this morning, saw this mod and thought it was cool. So, I posted it real quick.

Like I said, I had no idea it came from TGJ.

That's cool man, just thought it was a plugin because the format is the same on most of these. I will gladly re-read GJ content

I must say, I was a little shocked this afternoon when I got on and saw my project on the front page of GarageJournal.

Knowing of a near total loss home fire due to a battery charger and another that started smoking enough to set off the fire alarm on a commercial jobsite, there is no way that I'll leave my chargers plugged in and unattended.

I thought the circle link was by design... never even considered Ryan didn't know it started here.

Bree, I will say it again. You won a NIFTY award... I have given a few out before... but yours is all yours. Well done.

I would love to have the skills to make that. I would have to do it in wood. I can't weld.

I did something similar in my service body van. I had one toolbox devoted to cordless tools and battery chargers. Also had another box with perishable consumables, caulk etc. that I had a heater in for cold weather use. I used a ship to shore Hubble twist lock plug to connect to 120 volt worked pretty good

I saw an experimental LiPo battery burn from over charging at work. It was in an open bay, in a flame cabinet and in a battery bag. The flame cabinet worked but the bag did basically nothing. Makes me want to set something up in a flame cabinet. Mine are plugged in all the time.
