101 Snap on Power Tools help

Hi

Im a newbiee here. I have a small garage in Sarasota Florida. I just purchased some air tools. I dont know much about them and curious about proper care for these tools. They are used..I got them from someone who knows less about them than me.

Tools are as follows

Snap On 1/2 dr. XT7100 Impact gun
Snap On 3/8 dr. FAR72C Air Rachet
Snap On 1/4 dr. FAR25A Air Rachet.

I guess where do you oil the rachets at? How much oil do you use? I was told the XT7100 does not to be lubricated. I dont have the instruction manual for these tools. I want to take care of them and have many years of good use. What should I do to make sure they staying tip top shape. Im use to using hand tools mostly I guess Im moving up in the world..
Any pointers GREATLY appreciated.

You pour the oil into the hose fitting where the hose snaps onto. 1 or 2 drops before you use it each time. Some impact wrenches will have a grease port for lubing the hammers.

I add a few drops of Mobil air tool oil every day that I use them,and every now and then,using a pencil-tip grease gun in the tiny pencil-tip fitting that's in the middle of the directional lever.
Keeping the air compressor and water traps both drained of water is important.The moisture kills them.

I paided $330.00 buck for all three tools. I thought it was a pretty good deal they work and I know Snap-On tools arent cheap..They look like they are in very good condition. I just want to make sure i keep them in good mechanical condition.

yea the FAR72C is 389 alone...i say good buy if they all work! and its a damn good ratchet...not sure about the others as i havent used them...but ive used the FAR72C...

its amazing how you can do everything with a couple sockets and a regular ratchet...then you stumble upon an air ratchet or an impact wrench and your world spins! they are amazing tools, when used properly.

I used to only use a normal ratchet...now i mainly use my 3/8 impact wrench! and i find it annoying to have to use a ratchet!

Blk63Vette, welcome and you suck!!! If you haven't noticed yet, you suck is a very high compliment here when people make great buys on tools. Those are very good tools. I don;t know the specific models but I always add a couple of drops of air tool oil most every time I use them.

I'd be a little leary of the XT7100 not needing lubrication, that doesn't sould right. Hopefully, someone here will know for sure or check Snap'on's web site for a manual even if you have to purchase it.

Yes, ALL AIR TOOLS NEED SOME FORM OF LUBRICATION. Even the XT7100's air motor. They may have been talking about the hammers which are permanently sealed with lubricant. But the air motors do need oil.

Yes I have 1963 Corvette 327 4spd triple black car..(body,top,and interior) for the most part correct and original..I will post pictures if anyone is interested..Thanks everyone for your help..I am new here but I will be a regular everyone here seems pretty friendly..

I use as can of Marvel air tool oil at home. Never had any problems while using it.

Snap On sells their IM-6 air tool oil, but you can get PB Blaster Air tool oil at NAPA, but marvel mystery oil will work. Mainly you are lubricating the air motor to keep the vanes from gumming up.

The air ratchets will have a little grease fitting that looks like a pimple, Snap On sells a little grease gun, and the grease. You push the end of the grease gun onto the little pimple, and give it a shot or two every now and then. (If it works like mine, a little grease (hopefully) goes inside, and a lot of grease stays on the outside).
The grease gun, and the fitting are like the ones needed to grease the roller nose on the bar of a chain saw.

you did very well assuming the tools are in excellent condition.... go to snap on.com and do a search for the part numbers, you will find some where close to 800 (just a quick guess) for all 3.... keep in mind these do resale well and usualy have a value between 50 % and 75 % of retail in proper working condition.... you might want to consider upgrading the xt7100 to the new 725..... it is a much better 1/2 impact.... and you might also find out that the mg325 is worth picking up as a 3/8 impact(as strong as most 1/2 impacts)
