Default Dealing with Grainger sucks but Snap on Rocks.

About a week ago i posted a thread on 2 1/4" drive snap on ratchets that were in need of rebuild kits. After numerous replies i fired a email off to Snap on and within hours Tim in customer service responded saying that he would ship them out immediately. I had already made up my mind that i would be at least 2 weeks before i got them, so im watching the Cardinal game this afternoon and the doorbell rings and low and behold its the UPS truck.. I immediatly get excited then remember that i dont have any tools coming, So i grab the box, See the snap on return addy and then start trying to figure out why they shipped the repair parts in such a big box, Rip open the box and find 1 1/4" 20 tooth repair kit and believe it or not 1 NEW 3/8 80tooth ratchet thats right 1 80 tooth ratchet.... At first i was like where is my other ratchet rebuild kit? Then it dawned on me.. You big dummy you just got a New ratchet. Now my question is Why? Does this seem odd to you guys? Does Snap on reward customers sometimes with freebies or was this a mistake? I enclosed a picture of the ratchets, kit and invoice -minus my Pick List and customer number. Mark this down as a great day on the calendar.

I get a minimum of 2 shipments a week from Snap-on. I would not say that this is a common occurence but I will also say that it is not unheard of either.

Cool deal, I would contact Snap-on and let them know I'm sure they will tell you to keep it and it might save a guy some grief that just got a 1/4" gut kit instead of the $80 ratchet he ordered.

So let me get this straight:

You asked Snap-on to send you 2 rebuild kits, and instead they send you 1 rebuild kit and 1 new F80 ?

Guilt was getting to me so i was on the phone, Per the tech at snap on customer service the reasoning for the free ratchet being shipped was because the ratchet rebuild kits i requested 1 for a TM-70B and the other GM-70m (1949 dated GM70-M ratchet) where not the same rebuild kit and 1 was no longer available, therefore they decided to include a 3/8" ratchet. Im not sure what there reasoning was but im not complaining. Im guessing the GM70B must have been the one or maybe it wasnt 1/4" drive 9/32"???? Dunno all i know is that i can sleep good tonight knowing that the Tool gods intended for me to get the ratchet.

But weren't the 2 rebuild kits you originally wanted both 1/4" drive kits? Seems like if they were missing 1 kit, they would've sent you 1 rebuild kit and 1 T72 ratchet.

I have no idea why they sent me a 3/8" drive ratchet, i did my honorable thing for the day and called them to tell on my self. Im not complaining by anymeans and they made the customer happy, Which in turn is gonna make them money in the long run so i suppose its a win/win sitsuation.

I will still bet money that an RKRA930A will fix your other ratchet. Hang on to it and I am sure you will get a kit for it eventually.

I guess answering all those jack questions for us paid off. What goes around, comes around, both good and bad. Congrats!

You owe them a purchase big time; if anything, to clear your conscience.

Dont worry ive spent probably 2k with them online within the last year, If i had a local dealer that was interested in the little guy he would have gotten the money and i might have more product for the same coin.
