Default Kroil -vs- PB

OK,

I want to have it out here once and for all. No more discussions about tranny fluid and acetone.....

If these were your only two choices in the world, which would you select?

I bet the ones that vote for PB have never used Kroil, PB is better than nothing and way better than WD40 but its no where close to Kroil.

I voted for Kroil... if you have never used it then your missing out.

.... the only thing that PB Blaster has going for it is that you can buy 10 cans of PB for the same amount as 1 can of Kroil!

I haven't used Kroil, so I can't comment on it. I've used PB Blaster and it seemed to be pretty useless. It was about as effective as WD40 which is also mostly useless. I have also used Liquid Wrench. It is much better than PB Blaster.
I'm switching to that "one" you don't want to discuss.

I have Liquid Wrench, never used Kroil, limited experience with PB. I guess I don't know what I'm missing!

It would probably work somewhat, but I wouldn't want to test it out...

For in a can, PB is great, and cheap... Kroil seems to do a better job at quikcly penetrating...

For my non-formal formula, I use brake fluid, it seems to do the best job, but I haven't tried ATF and acetone yet.

Kroil...First time I used it after using inferior stuff the rest of my life...I was shocked at what I was missing. The stuff just works GREAT

Kroil .. it's more expensive .. and I don't care for the smell; I addicted to the smell of WD-40

Why didn't you do Kroil vs. Liquid Wrench??

Liquid wrench performed better than PB Blaster in that very scientific study.

It is also an outstanding product

I've been using TC-11 for about 10 years .. lately when I went to reorder (manufacturing is in Hawaii) I found out that it is no longer available .. stuff is alot better than WD-40 but not as good as Kroil for a penetrant ..

Kroil hands down.

bchee (or anyone else): The study your referring to , was that the HSM one that picked ATF/Acetone? Or was it a different one? Ive been trying to find a truly scientific study comparing all the leading Penetrating oils. I cant believe that there hasnt been one done (maybe by the military or something). If there is one out there its some hard to find. Any links would be appreciated.

Hard to say. The fellow who restored the 100lb lump of rust to a working vice soaked it in diesel for a year and it made no useful penetration in that time.

I've freed up stuff with PB... but I've also freed up stuff with WD40. Never used Kroil.

The "solvent which must not be named" worked for me to free up some stuck universal sockets so I'm going with that one (sans acetone, which I did not have).

I have PB & Kroil. Kroil definitely works better. The mix that shall remain nameless has worked about as good as kroil in my estimation.
