Default My New Harley Man Cave

Been lurking on the forum for some time now gathering ideas for my new Harley Man Cave. In my basement I have a 14' X 16' storage area that up to now I kept my 2 Harleys in. It was had mostly block foundation walls, an unfinished ceiling with all the pipes running around, concrete floor, and a single 9' garage door. You can get an idea of how it looked from the 1st 2 pics. I got tried of the area looking crappy, so started at the first of September on a remodel project which included framing in the walls and ceiling. I put 5 four bulb flourescent recessed trays in the ceiling for lots of work lighting. I painted the lower walls with SW Gibraltor and the top with Morning Fog superpaint satin. I had custom mixed the orange bold tire tread railing in between the top and bottom. I used the orange and black checkerboard pattern of GarageTrac flooring which is made by RaceDeck and obtained from BigFloors at a super price. For winter comfort, I installed a natural gas Charmglow heater from Home Depot. I decided to complement my Craftsman tool chest and workbench with a selection of Gladiator cabinets from Lowes. I still have a little bit of baseboard trim work and a couple more pieces of orange chair rail to install, but am very pleased with how the project turned out in my smaller than normal single car garage area. I moved the HOGs into their new home today and they looked happy Thought I would post some pics and see what you all think of it. Jerry

Very nice.

I was just curious why you didn't put the lift on the side with the toolchest. It would seen switching this around might make your life easier when working on one of your bikes.

Skyline, the lift has to go where it is at or in the center of the floor due to how the garage door is positioned. Where I have it, I have no problem riding the bike staight in onto the lift, since I use it as my daily parking space. Next to the cabinets I would be coming in at an angle which wouldn't be as good, plus be harder to get back out. The XBones is smaller in footprint and I can get it in and out easier from where I have it parked.

It was a big challenge to work with. A small 14 X 16 ft space, a work area, room for a full size service lift, and 2 Harleys. Lots of planning it out. On the work space side, there is less than 1/4" space left on the wall. Trying to fit my big Craftsman tool chest and workbench and find room for the new Gladiator stuff was tough. I thought that I had 1" left, but had considered the side bolts on the cabinets. Those took up 3/4" total space, leaving only 1/4". Still plenty...right??? Jerry

I fully intended to paint a orange stripe to seperate the top and bottom paints, but decided that the chair rail would be easier, plus I think it adds some 3 dimensional look to the walls. I found this trim, which resembles a tire tread, vs the traditional chair rail trim. It just gives a bolded look IMO.

Wow! Thanks everyone for the great comments about my new garage. I put a lot of hard work and planning into it and have been talking about it for the last 2 years. Finally, the wife told me either "just do it" or "shutup about it". I choose to "just do it" and glad I did. I am still addig a few things. The local Ace Hardware had their ShopVac Pro hang-up vacuum on sale this week, so I picked up one of those. It will be very handy, since it also has an 18 foot hose. It will reach everything in the garage. I took my dad to the optician yesterday, and the office had a great looking Harley Davidson Bar and Shield vinyl banner. Before I left, I talked the optician out of it. It looks really good on my walls. Again, thanks for all the great comments and over the last two years a wealth of ideas from the forum. Jerry

Likely because Harley Davidson has been making motocycles since 1903, Victory maybe 5 years or so.
I am thinking of doing an Indian motorcycle garage for my 1946 Chief, they started business in 1901 and were the first in USA.

Victory has been making motorcycles since before the turn of the century. We're closer to their 20th Anniversary than we are to their 10th. That correction in place, I'm sure folks would love to see an Indian garage. Is yours one of the inline 4s?
