Default IR vs Quincy vs Eaton

I'm looking to purchase a 80 lb, two stage compressor that is made in the USA and would like to know which brand to purchase and why. Any suggestions?

While they're assembled here, Eaton's pumps are made in China. If that makes a difference to you.

The first question is how much do you want to spend?

The second would be are you limited to just those noted above or are you open to other brands (Champion, etc).

Dad bought an Eaton a few years ago for his coating business. Its a 30hp screw model. Its 4 time quieter than the Atlas Copco it replaced. It runs continuous for about 12 hrs per day and we have had no problems with it whatsoever. As for the motor being imported, this is true, but it also brought the price down some compared to other we looked at.

USA, your only option is http://www.saylor-beall.com/home.php you will need a second and 3rd mortgage for one. That is probable the way I'm going to go.

From my research this is how they rank:

saylor-beall
Champion
Quincy and or Eaton
IR

I bought the compressor you describe from Eaton earlier this year, and am happy. If you have a problem or question, there are nice folks in Ohio who help. I don't have much to compare it to, but mine's quiet, as well.

Some of the castings for Quincy are imported. IR uses castings from India. Almost all of them use belts of foreign origin. Curtis uses a pump from Taiwan unless you are looking at their ML series. Champion uses all components from USA except their belts & pressure gauge.

Eaton is/was deceptive. You can search for a previous thread where Matt (owner of Eaton) threatened another forum for finding out & publishing that their pumps are from China when Eaton was trying to say everything was made in USA>

I did. All the employees I've dealt with have been great, and I'm happy with the compressor. The owner, though, seems to be quite the knucklehead.

My Bel-Aire has an Italian pump (from what I've been told). US motor and tank. Good unit for 8 years and priced right.

I have the 218V... the 318 series has more "ooomph" for sandblasting and is what I'd buy again. I paid $13xx.00 for mine and they sell 'em now for about $1100.00 delivered.

I have this one http://www.deltaportercable.com/Prod...roductID=11529

Made by Devilbiss.
I have been very happy with it. Especially since it was under $1000.
