Default How do you hang your brooms, etc in your garage?

Finishing up my winter re-do of my garage (sneak peak pic below) and still trying to figure out how to hang brooms etc. If I used studs for the U shaped hangers I have (one thing per hook, simple), then the handles will lie above my hooks below for cords. All of the multi tool brackets I have seen are too close together and not what I want.

I was thinking to first mount a 2x4 or 1x4 to the wall (paint to match), then I can mount hanging brackets wherever I want, and then have the handles land inbetween the hooks below.

Any ideas or thoughts?

I have one large shop proom that hangs on the column between my garage doors. I put 2 big nails in the studs above the doors and hang it up there.

I put them up on the wall. Buy some hooks and get them off the ground.

I found these strips at either Lowes or Home Depot. Basically it’s a track with hooks that can be placed anywhere.

One draw back to this system is the hook locations are too close together and using every other one is to far apart. Also, the ‘friction’ hooks work well for heavy objects like shovels, but don’t hold light objects like brooms as well. Bump the wall or grab a shovel and the broom drop out. Anyhow, this gives you the basic idea of friction hooks.

On the other side, I have a long double prong wall hook for the two my wife uses most (and no it’s not for transportation).

These are really practical and work well. If you decide to use the board idea, I’d look into using a variety of hooks. That way you could mount some with the head up and some with the head down to minimize space required.

Funny!

My Ex got the broom when I left. I think she flies it too.

I hang mine from the pegboard using a spring-type clip. Works great for my shovels/rakes also.

I screwed a long 2x4 into studs in the wall, and then used either hooks or nails to hang various tools (depending on size/weight).

I used the Gladiator system. They have different size hooks and you can space them as needed for the items that you want to hang. The wall strips come in 4'-0" lengths.

I used a bunch of these at work. I would have bought a bunch more but they don't have the right material for heated hydrochloric acid at least not in the correct size. The ones I got were good though. That really is a dang good idea.
