Default shipping container garage will it work?

I have access to 4 shipping containers. They are 8ft tall and 40ft long this is my idea. Get some 60ft trusses and make a 40x40 garage with great storage. Building codes are not a issue.shop.jpg

If no building codes to contend with then I'd say go for it. I think it would be awesome..

Pour a pad between with big bay doors at each end, and have nice storage and workshop spaces divided and enclosed..

I've seen some sick homes being built from shipping containers.. The one below is almost exactly what you proposing except it's a house not a garage.

Here is one of my shops in Las Vegas. It is not pretty, but it does the job and they go up quick. I am planning on closing off the front and putting in overhead doors to make it a little more comfortable for my mechanics.

Who built, or where did you get, the barrel structure? Are the trusses steel or aluminum? Curious, because that is effectively an outdoor stage roof similar to what my company builds for the entertainment industry.

Being in Nevada, it's a good thing it's "indoors" - can you IMAGINE a port-o-let after a short while out in the Nevada summer sun???? (insert wretching sound here...)

I have considered that same setup for heavy equipment storage. You could turn the
top units doors to the back and build a stairwell and mezzanine platform to utilize the space for storage.

A company named Vision Building Systems built the building minus the concrete pad which another company did. www.visionbuildingsystems.com The trusses are galvonized steel. The trusses attach to the containers and the containers just sit on the ground. Inside a concrete pad was pored. It was a quick and cost effective system. Prior to this we were working on the trucks in the gravel lot so this was a huge upgrade. It has held up well to the high winds that we see in Vegas 60mph plus.

Indoor plumbing is still an issue. We do have water although not the cleanest since this is in a landfill, but no drains other than french drains. We still use the Port o Potty.

I got a quote recently to close off the front of the building and have two overhead doors and a service door. It came out to abot 19,000. That is on the back burner for now but something I want to do before winter hits again. It does still get cold in Vegas.

Ah the power of the search function

Just been reading all the threads on here re these. I am in the planning phase of actually building an entire house of out of 40ft High cubes. How have you guys that have joined these together ensured they dont move and are water tight? I am hoping to do something like this but with a 3rd floor.

Myself and what is left of my stuff are currently in a 45 foot high-cube (divorce.) I'm looking for some land and 5 more containers. I plan on arranging them in a stair step formation. (Three on the bottom, then two, then one.) That would give me a three story 2160 sq. ft. house/shop.
I have seen several container homes on the net, but no one seems to say anything about how they attach them or seal openings cut to connect them. The tandemloc clamp from the container garage is good but does not look like it would allow two at 90 in the same corner block. I really don't want to weld them together as the portable/non permanent structure may be a tax consideration. Any suggestions for a way to move/stack them without a crane? Although I have not found anybody who has one, a military surplus M1022A1 would be handy for transport.

I converted this container in to my shop, It works well I just added a lot of light. Using shipping containers for a garage will work. A lot of the local shipyards use them for work spaces with quansets over top. I was going to get a second container and do the same thing. happy building.

My mistake was in not having a wider parking area.
