Default 99 decent drill bits ($15) at Costco...

They have their 99 piece Kawasaki set marked down to $15...decent buy. Just don't expect them to last forever...more of a disposable thing. Obviously not on a Viking/Norseman/Lathrobe level, but good enough for occasional use. Titanium coated 135 degree angled bits. Imperial sizes:

Quote:
19 pc 1/16, 16 pieces 5/64 inches 15 pieces 3/32 inches 10 pieces 1/8 inch 8 pieces 9/64 inches 8 pieces 5/32 inches 3 pieces 11/64 inches 3 pieces 3/16 inches 2 pieces 13/64 inches 2 pieces 7/32 inches 2 pieces 1/4 inches 2 pieces 5/16 inches 2 pieces 3/8 inches
Comes in a nice toxic/lime green storage case with a crappy handle. I may just replace the handles with a conventional metal pull. Also going to be ripping the label off (looks a bit tacky). If you don't use the bits, think of it as a $15 metal storage/stash case .

Pics of the set in question:

Amazon has it for $36: http://www.amazon.com/Kawasaki-Titan.../dp/B002YVD3G6

Hell that's not a bad deal. I buy probably the same bits at the hardware store for $2-$3 each.

How's this set compare to the 146 pc set at Canadian Tire on sale for 37.99? PN 54-3682-0 if anyone is bored...

The 230-piece set is on sale for $50 bucks...looks the same, but I hate crappytires returns/exchanges/warranty, so I'm going to pass. And its not green. LOL

SOmething else to add...the bulk of the crappytire 230 piece set are multiples on each other....virtually the same if I purchased 3 of the kawasakis and put them together.

I was recently given a CT titanium set 21 bits I think. snapped off 2 bits within the first minutes. found two others pre-bent when I checked. Didn't even bother to walk to the bin to dump them, they went air-freight.

One more thing, I advise you guys to leave the label on...I tried soaking it in nail polish remover (NOT acetone), lighter fluid, Goo Gone and plain old water and soap...adhesive stayed on. Paint's also getting soft, so I gotta let it cure a bit before starting again...sigh.

I bought this set at Costco for $20, and I'm real happy with it. It does what I need it to do. I don't need a 100 piece drill bit set with every drill in 1/64 increments, because what I invariably do is break the little ones.

With this set, I can break the little ones 10-15 times before I'm out of that size. I just use them for general work. I bought a set, liked it alot, and bought 2 more. Should last me for awhile.

I bought it awhile back for 20 bucks. Perfect for household type stuff, should last me a long time. It's a really good deal.

Whassup? I just went to Cosco.com, did a search and they never heard of Kawasaki drill bits. Anyone got a link?

Costco.com seems to have little in common with the store items. It's always been odd to me as well.

Costco does'nt have those bits in stock. I have a couple of rowdy Canadian buddies that visit LV regularly. I'll have them pick up that CT deal and bring them down. John--Las Vegas.

Oh, right! Now I see it was just one of those Canada things.

It's like I've got this friend who is always sending me photos of the umpteen dozen pike or grayling he caught on his last fishing trip. I've started saying, "Yeah, but then you have to live in the frozen ass-end of nowhere, too!"

Is it?

54Fordpanel said he bought the set and isn't far from me in Colorado. Might have to see if the local Costco has them....

I bought 3 sets at the Costco at Wadsworth and Quincy. That was in December.

My experience with Costco has been that they stock what they have. When the items are sold, something else takes it's place on the shelf.

*Edit: I googled, and see them on Amazon for $34.

Princess Auto sells a similar set of drills on occassion. The set is about 1.5 times as big as that and goes for about $30. The drills are good enough for a lot of jobs and the box is certainly worthwhile. As I buy new drills to replace the ones I wear out or break, I just put them in the box. The good drills point one way and those ones point the other way. Eventually it will be filled with good drills pointing the same way!
