Default Masterforce Tools At Menards

I was at my local Menards today looking at Allen brand tools. I was amazed to see that mixed in with the Allen tools were many Masterforce tools on the same cards. Masterforce is Menards store brand and most, maybe all, of the power tools are imported but these hand tools were US made. They had the exact same packaging as the Allen tools except for the Masterforce name. Menards had been clearing out many of their Allen brand tools and I thought they would bring in a cheaper line but these were the same price. They are manufactured by Danahar. Anyone else see this at their Menards store?
Thanks, Dave

Yep. I have seen it too. Here's a previous thread on the topic.

Also disturbing is the greater number of ToolShop tools at some of the Menards stores.

I have a number of Allen tools and really like them. The fit and finish of their sockets has always impressed me. Great tools for the money. It would be sad to see them become even less available than they are now.

Haven't noticed anything with the wrenches , but the selection of drill bits looked like it was going through a transition. Was looking for colbalt Irwins, found one. Everything else was Vermont America or Masterforce. Allmade in China. At least Menards does note American made items in their sales fliers.

That about says it. Masterforce is going to be to Menard's what Craftsman is to Sears. COO and manufacturers from all over, one name.

Today I saw some Gearwrench tools rebranded as Masterforce Professional Mechanic (or something like that). I wonder how far Menards will go to brand everything in their stores Masterforce? They continue to force tool manufacturers out and replace them with their store brands.

bumping this thread...

I notice in the menards add today they have "groove joint pliers" on sale and they look exactly like the irwin groove lock pliers. They also happen to have the irwin stuff at 20% off..... The price is about the same as the irwin stuff.

They also have some nice prices on irwin vise-grips..

It looks like this set, http://www.amazon.com/Irwin-Hanson-V...348688&sr=1-13

but for only $25

If you've got a Fleet farm around they have a pretty complete (up to 3/4 drive) selection of Allen.

Seems to me they are looking to give Sears a run for thier money with The Masterforce brand (probably an understatement), but for the most part the tools are the same quality and priced similar (from what I've seen anyway).

The Masterforce boxes are really nice, A friend bought one last week (the 41" bottom), and I was impressed with it before, but I'm going to definalty get one myself when funds permit.

I'm taking a wild guess but I'm betting that the power tools are made by Delta, the dust collector I saw looked near same.

I had also picked up a catalog/flyer from the tool dept. service desk that lists all the Masterforce stuff.

If you guys are looking for sockets in Menards try to buy the older Allen ones first. I bought a 11pc 3/8th drive metric deepwell 9-19mm set for 39.99 when the Masterforce ones the were infront of them were all 9pc sets for the same price.
