I found this on clearance at a local steel supply. It's an adjustable socket made by Channellock (looks to be NOS). I bought it because it was so damn unique... don't know what I'll ever do with it. It is 3/8 drive and covers size 1/4-5/8 (and metric equivalents). Check it out:

I wouldn't want to torque anything with it, but it would be pretty cool to have in the glove box in a pinch.

I was thinking of using it on irregular fasteners, if anything. Actually, if you think about it, it is better than flank drive - there is NO contact at any of the hex corners AT ALL. Only contact is on the flats. Hmmm......

Got a response back from Channellock already:
"Hi Ed: The #906 was a Channellock tool that was discontinued about 10 years ago. It is an adjustable socket used to replace individual sockets ranging in size from 5/16 to 5/8" drive. It was not made by Channellock but by Milbar which is a company out of Chagrin Falls, OH. Thanks, Dee-Dee Channellock, Inc." How 'bout that. Made by Milbar. Oh, and I placed an order with Channellock direct. I'll have to post those goodies when I get them. |

H'm not sure I'd use it either, how much did you actually pay for it.
PS: I think Dee Dee from Chanellock, Inc deserves my gold star for customer service for the day. |
