Default Craftsman Miter Saw Vac Attachment?

New miter saw arrived, basic 10 inch for $99 on sale, a good beginner saw, and I'm trying to duct the dust from the 1.5 O.D. adapter on the saw using my shop vac. Any tips on how to hook up a hose form the back of the saw to the 2.5 hose on the vac? Buy some 1.5 hose somewhere and hunt for an adapter?

Second, for a guy just setting up his new garage and getting back into building stuff and woodworking, this place is te motherlode of information and entertainment.

Thanks

I have a DeWalt miter saw, however, I believe the hook-up would be the same. There is a sawdust bag on the saw. Take off the bag and place the vacuum cleaner hose over the plastic port which is still on the saw.
That should do the trick for you.

There should be an adapter in the shop vac section like this

Are you sure it's a 1.5" OD adapter? I recently donated my Craftsman 10" miter saw, but I recall not being able to fit any adapters to the dust port.

Yeah, I measured the dust port and it was a 1.5. I did a quick search in the local plumbing aisle and came up with a rubber/hose clamp adapter that hooked up perfect to the vac hose. None of the hoses I had came close to a direct fit on the dust port. Thanks for the comebacks! This is a great place.
