Default Cars you wish you still had

I know it's not technically a garage topic, but anyone who loves garages must also love cars. I have a couple cars that I wish I had never let slip away. This is certainly one... 1970 Buick Riviera, 455 ci quadrajet. Man I miss that car! Lot's of great memories. What has slipped through you hands over the years?

I really dont regret the sale of any of my cars because when I sold them it was the rigt decision for the time.
on the other hand a few that I have had would be nice to have back (from a today money point of view)

68 shelby GT500KR fbk
70 boss 302
67 GT390 4spd fastback (posi, manual steerring, heater delete)
65 fastback ( so early of a car that it had the 64 hood and light buckets, original paint)
69 cougar XR7. all options including leather int and it had a 351C in it (numbers matching)

69 Nova SS.

Sold it in 1988 to a guy that turned it into a race car. Who da thunk 22 years later I'd start drag racing with my daughter and that guy still has that car and races at the same track every Saturday. So every round I see it drive by and zip on down the track.

Actually its all good because I really miss a little more the 72 Cutlass that I traded to get the 69 Nova SS. Sorry no photos.

In highschool, I drove a '66 plymouth Valiant('70-73), no power anything with an 8 track deck under my front seat! Out of sentimental reasons, I'd like to drive it or have one!

OH Heck, after the Valiant, I got my grandmothers '63 Pontiac Lemans! that was nice until the rear drive tranny went out and I had to ride the school bus the rest of my senior year!

Other than that, I had a '65 GT0, actually was a Lemans with a GTO front end on it,but looked like a GTO, I guess I was about 22 then, it was a fun car!!

The first two cars I bought were a 65 cuda with commando V8, 4 speed and a Ford rear end. The second was a 69 Cutlass Supreme with a 350 Quadrajet. Would love to have either one of them back and considering what I sold them for I should shoot myself.

Dad had 2 of those damned bugs when we were kids, he would take us down to the bus stop in the morning to wait on the bus for school. We would tell him to just go on to work because it wasn't any warmer inside the car than it was outside. I still shiver when I see one.

None. Never had anything all that great to begin with. Everything was a compromise to what I could afford at the time. Don't get me wrong - I had several cars I was very fond of - but they went when I was done with them and I didn't look back. Of course, if you are talking about pure nostalgia - I would love to drive them all again today. But none were worth keeping all these years just for that.

My first car, 86 Chevy Caprice. It was like a couple couches on wheels, comfortable as hell, hauled balls, sucked gas, and got me some... groceries. Good memories in that thing. I decided to let it go when the timing chain let loose one cold night. Having seen how much of a PITA it is to change timing belts/chains on the cars i've had since then I kick myself all the time knowing how easy it was to work on that old 350.

72' Chevelle SS454, yep got it from my uncle who bought it new, he lived in Encino, California, I got it for my 17th birthday 7 years later. It was Silver Mint Pewter, I won't even go into the stupidty behind selling it, but my next car was a piece of shit 81' Z-28 I bought new in January 81'. It was a screw up from the factory, it was a 350 with a 4 speed, Borg &Warner Super T-10, car was loaded except for T-tops, had 4 wheel disc brakes, I should of kept it, and put something that made horsepower into it.

I still have one I bought in 1965. It's a '29 ford roadster pickup. Some I should have kept were '53 Merc convertible, '62 Olds Jetfire, '57 Plymouth Belvedere 2 door hard top, 54 Plymouth wagon, '39 Packard, '37 Chevy coupe, '48 Ford coupe, '38 chev coupe with Olds 303 engine, '58 MGA coupe, '64 Volkswagen bus with many, many windows, '39 Ford standard pick up, '67 Jeepster Comando, '54 Olds 88

the ones I have now that are keepers: '29 Ford roadster pick up, '74 BMW tii,
'58 Buick Century, a couple of early '80s Volvo wagons. and my bus, a 1948 Flxible Clipper. I still have most of the motorcycles I ever bought but didn't buy some that I should have.

A 1967 Firebird 400 convertible, pale yellow, wire caps, auto 3 speed, posi=trac, redline tires for $218 a month when I was making $850 a month. $4250 or so...bought it off the showroom floor from Matson Chevrolet, Hillsboro, OH. Wow...what a car! Sold it for $1800 with 70k plus miles...needed the money and then paid $400 for a '64 chev. six 4 door with powerglide which got us through the hard times.

My '39 Studebaker Gasser , I miss this one more than any of them. My friend Jay and I built this from 1988-1992, I sold it in 1993 like an idiot. It had a 350 with a 4-71 blower. All Old School of todays standards ( of course back then it was called scrounging for parts that would work, from wherever you could find them), from the Halibrand rims, Stewart Warner gauges, Bell Straight axle, 9 foot long magnesium ladder bars, Hurst Airhart brakes, wheelie bars, Fiberglass flip nose...

'62 Impala SS - 2 door hardtop.

This is the only picture I have of the one that got away. This was my dad's high school dream car. He bought it when I was about 12 and we worked on it nearly every weekend. He lost interest and was about to get rid of it, but I talked him into letting me have it on my 15th birthday. I worked on it all through high school. I had a built 400 small block, all the suspension was rebuilt, and the body work was 85% done but still in primer.

Had to sell it when I went to college because no garage to keep it in, and I didn't want all my work to go down the tubes. My dad told me I could do with it what I wanted, but he guaranteed I would be sorry if I sold it. HE WAS RIGHT!!

I have had a decent amount of nice cars and only two of them were sold at a time that I wish I would not have. I had a 69 Buick GS convertible that I sold 2 days before I left my 1st wife. I sold a 1990 SS454 pickup to provide the down payment for the house I recently had to short sell. I didnít mind selling the truck at the time but now that I walked away from my home with no equity, I feel a little bitter about it.
I have had a few Buick GSís, a nice 61 Electra, a few camaros, I always bought used cars, but my first new car was a doge omni GHL. (what a POS for a quick car) I really need to find a scanner and get all my old car photos in electronic form.
In order of preference of cars I wish I still had, in the condition I sold them.
1. 69 Buick GS convertible.
2. 70 Buick GS convertible
3. 66 Chevelle
4. 72 454 caprice classic
5. 71 Camaro
6. 90 SS 454 pickup
7. 84 CJ8 scrambler.
Everything else I really have no love lost over.

I still have a nice jeep as a toy. My truck is very clean and I still get complements on.
And while my daily driver is nothing to look at, the engine has an 8.200 rpm redline and a six speed trans and corners better than any car I ever had.

No regrets, really, but every time I see a 1956 Chevy Belair 4D Hardtop it sure brings up memories. Just out of high school, Dad helps me buy it. Sold it within a year before heading to Vietnam (USN). Watched the guy that bought it hustle pool to pay for it ($250 IIRC), then we walked across the street to the court house and transfer the papers. He wrapped around a tree a little later!

none, I have kept the vehicles I have wanted to keep...like a 62 Dodge Town Wagon, and a 62 Dodge Military Power Wagon, and gotten rid of the ones I didn't like, like a 94 Plymouth Voyager or a 83 Subaru GL Wagon.

I wish i still had this as a daily driver -

82' honda civic hatchback with a 95 injected and turbocharged 1.6 honda motor in it.

I wish I would have left it N/A and just driven it - got great milage, was surprisingly quick, and blew honda guys away (not a very easy swap for this year of car). I have since moved on from my Honda Days, but this car was fun.

I've had a lot of cars since I was old enough to drive when I got my licence in 1969. Among those have been many 60's Mustangs inclusing a Shelby GT500 and Dodge Daytona and my Current Chevelle I've owned since 1993. The car I would have back if I could choose is an odd choice. I had a 1964 Oldmobile 98 2dr Custom Sports Coupe. It was equipted with a package that closly resembled an Impala SS. It had Leather and Silk Interior, Bucket seats, Console, Factory Tach, reverb stereo, 394 with twin carter 4bbl carbs (factory installed) and Jetaway Transmission. It had a unreal amount of Chrome. As stange as it may seem it would be my choice. I've looked for one like it for 25 years and have come close several times on ebay but it seems it was an ultra rare model. I would take a single carb version of the same car but can't find it either. I kick myself anytime I see one even close

But sometimes I do wish we still had the E-tek Racing Flagship 1971 240Z with 280engine, 5 speed and full race suspension....it kicked ass! Still does, as it's still racing and I have right of first purchase if the current owner ever sells it....someday!

I wish I still had my 63 1/2 Galaxy, 427, four speed, Ming Green with black upholstery. I also wish the old 67 Cortina GT was still around along with my 84 RX7 GLE. The 61 MKI Sprite with 12A power should have never been sold either. My old 62 F85 2 door sedan with a 215 was stolen, but I wish it were still around, too. Oh, you get the idea.

And the original mileage when I sold it, had 36,237:

someone early in the thread said "all of the"...I've gotta agree. the only one i really want back is my '02 subaru wrx wagon...I regretted that sale as it drove away. great driver, all season, utility, decent looks (IMO), overall the best car I've owned. I came across my 03 cobra that I bought new, then sold 3 1/2 yrs ago, so I bought it back last month.

1970 GTO-400,TH400,4.11 Posi
1974 Lincoln Mk IV-460-Big Boat Cruiser-Girl Magnet Pimpmobile/Party Wagon
1966 'Vette 'vert w/hardtop-4 speed,worked motor,sidepipes,flares,suspension kit,gummy radials-best handling,worst riding,most impractical car I owned-miss it the most

1970 Mustang.
Bought it in 1974 while in high school for $4k (if I recall correctly), sold it a couple of years later. While I've had other nice cars, I know what that 1970 would be worth today. I'd love to find an affordable project 1970 (or '69) to restore.

Thanks to all for posting on threads like this - really enjoy hearing about others old rides and seeing vintage photos!

Of all the (more than 35) cars I have owned so far, I miss my 1963 Pontiac Catalina and my 1969 El Camino the most. I have fond memories of the 196x Datsun Bluebird, and the 1941 Ford pickup as well, and the 1967 International Scout was a fun beast, as was the 1947 Willys CJ2A.

I grew up with many cars around from the late forties. When I was a kid in the sixties that was no big deal. But 2 cars that Dad bought would be real keepers.
1959 Impala 4 door hardtop. Jet black/red interior. 283 power pac 3 on the tree. Dad bought brand new. Had to put ethyl grade gas in it.
1967 Chevelle SS396 325 hsp. Marina blue and blue interior, buckets and console. Still have the baby moons from it !
My own cars less spectacular.
1965 Plymouth Fury lll 2 dr hardtop. 318 poly- head.
1970 Ford XL 351 Windsor 2 bbl. 2 dr hardtop. Buckets and console. These were a sport version of the Galaxie 500 XL.
Both of those cars really liked the open road.

My '04 Cavalier. First car that I bought and paid off early. Taken by a red light runner... I miss not having a car payment.

I really miss my '70 XR-7. It had an electrical fire the day after having the a/c controls in the console repaired by the dealer, and burned to the ground

The 69 GTO I had in high school. Can't find it but got another.

The 85 Z28 I had until 92. Also can't find it.

And, the first car I remember riding in, got driven to pre-school in, etc. and my parents sold it in '76.

I did find it, and the current owner did a great job restoring it, but I can't afford it.

Wish I had my:

1968 triumph TR250 - bought in 1971,sold in 1974 to get
1974 Datsun 260Z - sold in 1977 to get family car
1973 Triumph TR6 - bought in 1984, restored and sold in 2003 at over 300% profit
second 1968 Triumph TR250, bought in 1995, sold in 2003 - should have kept to restore

Guess why the 2003 sales? Divorce home sale, temporary apt, all that stuff

I currently have the best car I've ever owned - 2007 BMW 335i.
and one of the worst cars I've ever owned - 2002 Ford Explorer.

Aint that the friggin' truth.
I'm trying to remember them in chronological order of my ownership.

70 mustang coupe 302/4spd. manual everything, black and blue w/ gold modular rims and 205 60's all the way around. That car landed me my 1st p***y, I bought it when I was 14 for $100, and finally had it done right after HS graduation.

71 Mach 1, 302/c4. ps pdb at ac red/black trim & stripes w/NACA hood

70 Cougar XR7 convertible, 351c 2bb/at loaded. power e'r thang. blue w/white top. I got it for free after the owners took 6 months to decide they couldn't afford to replace the rusty floors.

71 (or 72 or 73? I forget) mustang sprint fastback originally a 6cyl car, came with a 429scj C6. red white and blue baby! (and a spare NACA hood)

60's Willys wagon, hurricane 6/t-98/4wd. pos w/ bent frame, but loads of fun on the farm. The pto winch was the bomb. That and a set of chains and it'd go anywhere, just slowly and crookedly.

77 FSJ Cherokee 360/th400/quadratrack w/low range/ dana 44's w/posi f&r.
Un frikkin stoppable in the snow with a set of 31 inch ground hogs. Stole it for like $250 bucks "not running", swapped a ford 4bbl carb on it and drove it for years.

2 Scout II's.

No wait 3 Scout II's. The last one was actually pretty nice, there was some body left for the shiny paint. The other 2 were good running but r-u-s-t-y! That's what made them so fun, it didn't matter how many trees you "gently rubbed" down the side. I had to go back up the trail and pick up a whole qtr panel one day, so I could slap it back on and bolt the roof back on when it got cold.

73 Midget. I loved the looks from people when I got out and stood up at a little over 6'-1". I have small (10-1/2) feet so the fit wasn't too bad. Them things are like a street legal go kart, tons of fun. But never pass anything bigger than a baby carriage on the right or you'll get run over.

76 TR6. Truly an awesome cheap sports car. (If you're good at fixing electrical "issues")

73 C10 swb 454/th400/12 bolt posi. Without the posi the truck was useless, my buddy borrowed it one day and smoked a new [late 80's] Vette.

67 Fairlane 500 2d hardtop. 289/3spd/9". This one kills me so bad right now, I paid $500 for a complete but not quite assembled car w/ a 5.0 instead of the 289. Kept the motor & trans but let the rolling body/chassis go for $250. The floors were shot but, pffft, floors no biggie. The outer body including wheelwells and inner fenders was rust free and straight as an arrow, even had every piece of trim in the trunk and in great shape.

I sold it to be able to keep driving my 65 Falcon 2dsd 200/3 ott. I really wish I'd kept it and let the Falcon go. But the Falcon was my honeymoon ride cuz my wife's '96 Taurus blew up on the way to the wedding, (hmmm?) so it sits safely under the carport till some t&m come along.

Ugh now I'm depressed.

I'm sure I'm forgetting some here and there.

Oh yeah there's the '80 G20 delivery van I was driving the night I proposed to my wife. (uh-huh, oh-yeah, down by the river) But I hated that van, and don't miss it. I think I only kept it for a month or two and pitched it for the Falcon.

Ah well I still have the Falcon, and it still runs but uses more oil than gas right now. The compression is so low it'll roll on the slightest incline. To help keep it from doing that I "strategically" let one tire go flat.:

My first car that I had in High School. A 67 GTX with a 440 4-speed and a Dana 60 with 4:10 gears. I bought it from my brother with no engine for $500.00 when he went into the Navy. I had a 72 Ply Duster with a 340 4-speed and a 73 Ply Duster with a 340 Auto and a 70 Dodge Challenger with a 383 Auto. But I get depressed and almost sick to my stomach every time I see a 67 GTX. I always say someday I'll get another one but they cost too much $$$$$$$ .

1956 T-Bird, bought - well used- for $900 while in high school (class of '65).

Originally had a 292 Y-block with an automatic. Converted to manual trans using OEM pedals, linkage etc from the local dealer parts counter, toploader 4-speed, with a built 312 (tri-power off a 406 Ford, Veretex mag and etc).

1961 Pontiac yellow, porthole top.

Ran 14.2 in the quarter.

Sold when I went off to college - and it was total by the guy I sold it to.

I really miss that car

I like Jack Olsen's post - I miss all of the cars I've sold.

My biggest regrets are the '63-1/3 Galaxie fastback coupe and a '67 factory 390/4spd convertible Mustang (sorry, no pics). I have pics of two that were fun. The first is my 1928 RHD Model A (which is also a great 'before' shot of my garage) -

And here is my 2006 V6 4.0L/5spd Mustang that I really enjoyed taking to the track (with a best NA ET of 14.312) -

The 2 that got away from me that I regret are

1956 Small Oval Window VW Bug
1964 1/2 Mustang

Both were just old cars to me when I was young and I let them go for next to nothing. Oh, to turn back time at least on the cars but the not the wifes.

I'm young enough that I've got a pretty short list of vehicles owned (16 in the last 16 years). I've enjoyed many of them, but only one would I like to have again: my '76 FJ40.

This was the first car I ever bought with my own money, and I bought it because I liked it not because it was sensible. Rusty, leaky, slow, thirsty, and still the most fun vehicle I've owned. I sold it because at the time I had no garage and few tools, and it really made no sense as my only vehicle. I did swear that I would get another one some day, and I will.

It's this idea, though, that makes me loathe to ever sell my '59 Sprite. I'm sure I'd regret selling it, so I'll just need to make the garage big enough that I can keep it in the collection permanently. It's my first restoration work, and I really shouldn't part with it.

My 1100cc Mini.
I rebuilt that car at my grandparents hose-think I was b18/19 at the time.
Cooper S discs & drive shafts.
12G295 head-polished & ported with tapered valve guides
Twin 11/4" SU carbs
Adjustable shocks all round
Revolution 4 spoke alloys
and more thatI can't remember.
It was a blast to drive & would do well over 100mph.

The one I wish I still had I never actually owned.
1961 Imperial Lebaron like this one
http://www.imperialclub.org/Yr/1961/...961LeBaron.htm

I spotted it sitting at the local Ford dealers used car lot December 1973.
Beautifully original and well kept both inside and out and totally loaded with options. Test drove it and was ready to pay the $600 or so asking price.
Problem was I needed to get an O.K. from my Dad as I wasn't 18 years old and was living at home.
In 1973 gas had spiked in price ,this car was old ,and his answer was of course no. The car sold a couple of weeks after that .
To add insult to injury I saw the car that following spring being driven by a greaseball hippy type of guy. Bet he drove the piss out of it then demo derbyed the car. Oh yeah....Chrysler only made 1026 imperial Lebarons in 1961...sigh

This thread made me think back and then I got nostalgic and sad at the same time.

2nd car at 17 yrs old in 1984 1969 Dodge Charger 440/6 pack 4 speed, with more rust than sheetmetal left, but I could pass anything but a gas station.

1968 Barracuda fastback 340 Formula S 4 speed, had that on e 17 years and made the mistake of letting go and have regretted ever since
1969 Dart Swinger 340 4 barrel
1976 Dodge quad cab pickup
1929 Model A 2 door sedan
1967 Barracuda fastback 273 4 barrel
2003 Dodge Neon yellow with blue tribal flame paint, crappy car, but cute

Still have:
1956 Nash Metropolitan, finished show winner
1262 Jeep FC-170 Pickup
1950 Plymouth Suburban 2 door wagon
1965 Dodge Dart 4 door grandpa car

My wife and I freaked out when our daughter was born. For some reason we fell victim to the propaganda that new cars are so much safer than old ones so we dumped our 2 daily drivers so we could purchase a.........oh man...I dont know if I can do this......ok..ok we got a scion xb(not anymore) So here is the regret My wife sold her 70 malibu that was in need of an interior and a little body work here. A guy from Netherlands bought it and had it shipped there so bye bye malibu. I on the other hand sold my trusty 65 c10 longbed big back window factory v8 that was in same shape as malibu. Luckily my chevy is here in sacramento somewhere. so someday I will see it up for sale and buy it back. At least that is what I keep telling myself. On a little more positive note. We gave the jap crap back after a bit and i scored an original 63 coupe deville for next to nothing and drove the wheels off it for 2years and guess what my daughter loved the caddy way more than the xb. safer to. I sold it this year to a kid fresh out of high school that had me show him how to check oil and find reverse. Im sure he rearended someone on the way to san jose after he left my place. Rich kids suck..

I guess the first car I ever bought back in 86 which was a 1969 MK3 Spitfire, rusty as hell and I had neither the skill, space or tools to fix it up so it got sold. Its still on the road apparently when I searched on the plate. I'd quite like to have my second Alfasud Ti back but it was leaky (the sunroof used to fill your lap with cold water when you pulled away first thing in the morning, a very spiteful act as I'd get to work looking like I had an incontinence problem) rusty and smoky and just not practical anymore for the miles I was doing. I still have my favourite though which is my 67 Chevy C10.

I've had 40+ vehicles, but this group are the only ones I really regret selling.

1997 F350 4x4 Crew Cab with the 7.3
1969 FJ40 - TBI 350
1982 FJ60 - TBI 350 converted back to carb'd - incredible truck

88LX T-top... wish I still had it. The people that bought it stripped it and turned it into a drag car and painted it flat black.

Like many of you, I have had many cars over the years, Some I couldn't wait to get rid of, They were just transportation. But some were part of you!! High schools days! First Dates! Drive-in Movies! Lots of memories!! My first car was a 1959 Ford that my Grandpa gave me, Wish I had that one back just for that reason. Got a 1967 Cougar my sophomore year in high school, stereo system second to none!! Huge box speakers in the back window, Section line parties the cougar would be in the middle, Speaker out on the top blast'n away!! To this day I blame the cougar that I wear two hearing aids!!! The day I sold it I new I had made a mistake. Owned a lot of other vehicles over the years but none can compare to the Cougar!!
59 Ford(1st)
67 Cougar
70 Firebird(Smokie & the Bandit)
73 Monte Carlo(T tops, swivel buckets)
06 Grand Prix(present)
many more in between

The 2 I miss the most.
1.1969 Malibu. Had it my senior year of high school. One back fire thru the carb and it was gone. I got to drive it all summer.
2. 1990 Civic Si hatch. Sold it when I bought my WRX. Dumb move. Didn't need to get rid of it. I miss it more than the WRX.

I like drm0 have a kitty in my past...
Favorite car-1968 Cougar, same body style as the 67, 302 2bl auto....210HP Red with black vinyl top.
A set of Cragars S/S's to finish off the look
No one ever told that car it ONLY had 210 HP outran alot of cars that should have smoked me good.
Sold in 1988

Tied for first LOL --1985 Mustang GT, 302 Roller cam, Edlebrock RPM intake 4bl Holley, Hurst shifter, 373 gears , swapped in 8.8, frame tied, 2.5" exhaust, 70k miles on it.
The simplicity of carburetion with the roller drive train.
Sold in 2001

I would probably rather own the Stang now, knowing the drivablity and niceties.
But ignoring all the rust issues etc, I'd rather have the 68 Cougar.

I'm on the opposite end of this. I'm only 36 and all my first vehicles were clunkers. In the past 2 years I've bought a 1971 Dodge Charger Hardtop for my wife and a 1971 Dodge Charger SE for myself. Both project cars but never going to part with them.

His N Hers 71 Chargers... is that cool or what?

Two of them:

My high school car, 1980 Camaro. I sold it because I could not afford the upkeep and insurance. Bunk traffic tickets send my insurance through the roof. For those that may argue they were deserved I never once got a speeding ticket in that car. They were all made up crap because I was a young guy driving a sporty car. I took every one of them to court, won some, lost others. Some cops even out right lied in court about what actually took place.

The other would be my first race car. A 1972 Monte Carlo Street Stock. I should have kept racing it. It was fast and fun. Another racer showed up at my garage in the winter making offers to buy it until it got too high to refuse. he went on to change everything I did to the car and then complained that he couldn't get it to handle. Go figure.

My dad bought me this 65 Mustang for $1250 (he knew I wasn't going to college, it was my college money!), when I was 14, or about 1981. I held onto it till around 2001. At which point it was so rotted, all the kings horses and the kings men, where not going to be able to bring it back together again. I ended up selling to a friend who needed a title and some parts for a 66.

When I was 15, I bought a 1968 Chevelle SS, with a locked up 350 in it. It was in a neighbor's back yard, had been sitting for years. His kid joined the marines and never came back to town after he got out. I managed to get it for $150 !!!! I almost soiled myself when the old man told he I could have it for "a buck and a half". I swapped the M-21 4 speed in it for a running 325hp 396, that had a 400 behind it. Put a crane fireball cam, chain, headers, high rise dual plane, and an open element cleaner, and I had a super low buck street bruiser. I really wish I still had that one. I blew up the big block, and parted the car down, cashed almost $1500 out of it in parts. Also the first car I parted.

Ive since been through lots of other cars that I would love to have back today, but you just can keep everything. If I could have just one back, it would probably be the mustang, then the Chevelle. More for sentimental reasons, then anything else. Ive also been through 2 new vettes, 1 new grand national, 2 new trans ams, lots of 1960s mustangs, Jeeps of several eras, cadillacs, uh buicks with swapped in 455 olds motors, olds' with 455s, I cant remember all the cars & jeeps Ive owned.

For just bombing around, Id like one of my 87 Grand Nationals back. Those where fun cars on the street.

Of all the cars I've owned, the one I've regretted selling the most is also the most recent. Bought new off of the lot when they were on the way out. Very fast and very, very comfortable. Sold because I was moving and needed to haul my dog across the country, along with loads of goods. Also, for some reason this car got a bunch of speeding tickets...... :-D

Ive not owned that car, but have been fascinated with it since its introduction, with my current state of my financial affairs, it wont be happening anytime soon (years...), but one day I will own one, I love that car, and I have not even driven it yet! I feel for you, if that's possible ?

I have owned about 35 cars over the years, but wish I still had several of them for different reasons.

1) 1969 Cadillac Hearse, my 1st car, because my 11 year old daughter saw pictures of it & thought it was cool & asked why I don't have it.

2) 1969 Dodge Charger SE, it would be pretty rough right now, but would be an awesome parts source for the current Charger I am restoring.

(The '68 I have now)

3) 1970 Plymouth GTX, it needed "too much work" in 1984, but by today's standards, it would be on the road in a month.

4) 1971 Plymouth Barracuda, a project car that I knew I just wouldn't have the time & money for but would still like it around in case I hit the lottery.

My uncle had the same car, except it had candy flames on it! He worked at a company in Chicago that made limo's and hearses back in the 60's & 70's. There was a customer (funeral home) that had bought the Cadillac and had it delivered to them to be turned into a hearse and at almost the end of the changeover the owner of the company found out the funeral home had gone out of business. After a few months of the car sitting there, he offered to my Uncle for the cost of the changeover, my uncle worked out a deal/payment plan and started driving it. He eventually put wheels and tires on it and had the flames painted on it. Most of our relatives forbid him from driving it to their houses, because they were afraid of the bad karma of having it parked at their house.

He eventually sold it to a funeral home who had it repainted. I can still remember him piling all of my cousins, my brother and I into and driving around. It wasn't until years later after seeing the movie Fantasm that I realized the spokeyness of riding around in one.

FWIW, my other uncle built coffins and for many years after he got out of doing that his hands were still stained from the finishes he put on them.

Interesting story.

I bought mine in 1980 directly from a local funeral home, it was a 1969. I can't recall if it was a Superior conversion body, or another one that may have been S & S. (I know it wasn't Meteor) I've had lots of people in it, & had once gone to a midnight showing of the original "Night of the Living Dead". It was a lot of fun seeing the looks on faces of people on line when I raced up to the front of the theater, slamming the brakes & skidding to a stop, then letting people out of the back door.....lol

On occasion I did have the typical "spooked" person who refused to ride in it, but for the most part it was okay. One nice thing I did notice was that other drivers were usually much more courteous & let me in front of them in heavy traffic. I also got used to driving with my headlights on.

New Guy Here,,,,The ONES I miss the most is my 89 20th Anny Trans Am with that Turbo V6. Lost it due to a divorce in 2001. The other is a 66 Charger,383 Magnum with pistol grip 4 speed. Bought the Charger in 90 and sold it in 92 for a down payment on a house. Sucks today because I don't have the house I sold it for, Not married to the WOman I lived with and have never seen the Charger again.

I was in love with my uncle's red super bee, and got to drive another uncle's 68 road runner. They weren't really mine, tho.

Have to say I liked the 'stangs we used to have, my wife's 69 sports roof with the 351 4V windsor (it was a very peppy car)

and the car we traded it for, the 68 GT500 4speed, which we could not afford to keep, because we were dirt poor and just getting married. We were so poor, that we could not afford to pay the extra $25 to have the caretakers wash the dishes, at our wedding reception. We washed most of them ourselves after the reception.

The worst thing is, I gave away many boxes of original parts, with the Shelby, when we sold it.

A very nice gentleman owns it, who carefully and fully restored it;

I had to leave my 1996 Maxima in NY when I moved to Colorado because it wasn't working. It's my sister's car now, but I loved that car.

My buddy while in high school had a red 64 convertible (?) Turbo - and it was a GREAT car! Lots of fun!

I miss my 72 Mach 1. It got totalled in 1988 when a guy in a Camaro pulled out in front of me. I have since replaced it with a '71 Boss 351, along with a '67 fastback (had it since '89), and a '69 Mach 1.

Speaking of Mustangs....This was my first "fun" car.

Great fun car, but not a terribly refined chassis. Sold it after a few years when the opportunity to buy this came up:

To date the 911 was definitely the coolest car I've owned. Maybe not best overall, but certainly the coolest. Divorce, layoff, and depression all conspired to make me let it go a couple years ago. She went to a good enthusiast home.

The latest heart break was seeing my truck all crumpled up in the Salvage yard.

My 16 yo daughter had a momentary lapse of concentration on the way to school and totaled it. She survived unscathed thankfully. I think she was more broken up than I was.

I have realized that cars come and go and there will always be another cool one to fill the spot.
