Default air compressor

I have an old twin cylinder Sears air compressor, model 106.153540. It needs a little attention, but pumps up fine and operates as it should. It was given to me, so I don't have anything invested at this point other than an oil change. Which brings me to my question- Anyone here know what oil is appropriate for this unit? I can find the parts breakdown, but no operators/owners information. It runs really smooth and is quiet, I might take it apart, clean it up and paint it, and use it for little stuff.

Thanks, 7echo

I just changed the oil in my older craftsman twin cylinder belt drive compressor. The owners manual called for 20W compressor oil, 16 ounces. It also said not to use multi-vis oil or detergent-type oil, straight 20w oil only. They sell it at Sears.

Thanks for the replies. I use Rarus synthetic in our newer stuff, but this one is older. The straight 20 wt. seems right for this older model.

Thanks again.
