Default BEST Metal cutting reciprocating saw blades???

I've blew through 4 lately and need some advice. I have a Craftsman 6 amp saw that came w/ it's 'own' wood and bi-metal blades. Yeah, those blades...anyhow, I picked up a DeWalt bi-metal, a Ridgid bi-metal and a Diablo demo/b-metal from Home Depot. Ridgid was also junk after a couple uses. The heat KILLED it!!!! The DeWalt is good, but it seems to take forever to cut through exhaust piping. It hasn't worn as fast even for having a lesser TPI like the Ridgid. The Diablo was sweet at first, then all of a sudden, it still cuts, takes a really long time and the blades feel sharp and worn at the same time. It's a very odd feeling to run your fingers across the Diablo teeth.

Any recommendations?????? I use these primarily for exhaust piping and other thinner metals.

I used to work for a power tool company, and as much as they wanted me to push our blades, I did too, I got a bonus for hitting my sales goals, I knew the Lenox blades were/are a far superior product. The best I've ever used, I always sold them with my reciprocating saw. My blades I'd typically throw in as a bonus, they weren't bad just the Lenox were THAT much better.

Yup Lenox all the way. I used to work for fastenal and could sell the shit out of Lenox and Norseman 182 degree split point bits. There is none better.
As a side note I just picked up a 5 pack of lenox bimetal blades at goodwill for 2.99.

Lenox and they offer a free one right now. I have been using them for years, they are expensive but when you need 2-3 other manufacturer blades to cut what one lenox blade can do the price is worth it.

It also makes a difference on TPI when cutting metal. The demo blades I have seen are pretty low TPI and you would want something with higher TPI. I have cut lots of exhaust with a recip saw, just have to use the right blade. If the exhaust is off the car I cut it with my portaband or dry cut saw, if it's on the car it gets cut with a recip or cut off wheel.

I used the Lenox and Milwaukee Torch which were okay, but honestly a 4.5" angle grinder was almost always better to me.

Well, that was easy. The Gold's or the Lazer's...is there any huge difference other than the fact the Gold's are designed to handle different materials better than just the metal-rated Lazer's?

If heat is killing your blades then slow down the saw. Most recip saws go way to fast for metal work. A bit of cutting oil will help also. If you have a choice of straight line or orbital motion of the blade choose the orbital. The thinner the work then the higher tooth count blade are called for. The rule of at least 3 teeth in the cut still applies.

Milwaulkee Torch. Little bit thicker , Lennox are good too slightly thinner which has its advantages. Whatever brand, slow your speed down , and use any kind of oil for coolant. It makes a big difference.

Milwaukee torch blades. They cut good and are really tough.havent bent one, or broken one yet cutting all kinds of thick steel

Some of you might remember my "Monster Under the Stairs" thread. That thing is still there; haven't made any progress since whenever I made that thread. I had no idea you were supposed to lower RPMs to cut heavy steel. I will try it next time. I probably blew through 3-5 of either the Milwaukee Torch or the Lennox Lazers and I didn't even cut the first third of the thing apart.

I like Lenox and I also bought a Morse Demolition blade last year. So thick I had to sand the paint off it to get it in the saw. It was nice to hack a car apart without bending the blade on hidden stuff. The blade just bounced off them.

I like the Torch better than the Lennox blades because theyre a little tougher and harder to bend.
