Default Geartech (Pittsburgh Pro) Ratcheting Wrench Warranty

well...I only own a handful of HF tools, and this SAE set is on of them...I recently bought the gear wrench set from True Value Hardware because my Geartech 1/2 is broke..

so I've been on the phone w/ Harbor Freight Customer Service and they are not going to be able to honor the warranty so are going to refund the price of the set. the CS rep asked me if I had a receipt and I replied that I usually dont hold on to receipts for more than a few months and this wrench was a few years old now.

I'm now on hold waiting for them to perhaps find the correct item # in their database b/c they only have the metric set available and no longer carry the SAE...she has to have an item # before she can send me a return shipping label

Glad I could help. I read your thread earlier and didn't think to post in it. I guess I was distracted by a what a jerk your new HF store manager is.

What about just getting store credit? Maybe you may prefer that?

nope...the Ratcheting wrenches that HF sells now are not as good of quality as the GearTech ones which IMHO are dang near on-par with a gearwrench...but now that I'm having warranty problems...screw HF....

just to followup....the local HF finally replaced my Geartech ratcheting wrench...but I ended up with a purple one because they do not stock them in regular chrome anymore, just the multi-colored ones.

Jumping Jesus on a Pogo stick. You want your cake and to eat it too?

I'm sick to shit of tool snobs. "Oh, this wrench costs $35 because it's Snap-On. It's great quality. Great customer service costs money!"

That's horseshit. I don't care if you're a tool snob or not, it's flat our RETARDED to make fun of folks for buying less expensive tools because "They're low quality; they'll bust your knuckles" then turn around in the next breath and try to justify spending $100+ for a 10 piece socket set by saying it's got a great warranty.

In my mind, if the damn tool was worth that much money, it SHOULDN'T break. For that much money, I shouldn't need to USE the "great warranty". Because I can get just as good a warranty from SEARS or (gasp) Harbor Freight.

When I buy tools, I buy TOOLS. I don't buy prestige, freebies from my dealer, or any of that other crap. I pay for a tool with an acceptable breakage rate for the investment and a lifetime warranty against said breakage. End of story.

I have a box full of broke Snap-On tools on the way back to Snap-On now. Any tool can break. From the best to the worst.

True.

But, as stated, it's disingenuous to insult a man for the quality of his tools then brag about the service and warranty provided by more expensive tools - when the service and warranty are basically the same as the less expensive tools.

well....I can appreciate calling out inferior tools.....but this set was in my "carry everywhere tool box"..not my tool box in the garage...these are wrenches that I abuse the shit out of...and yes, I even have a few Snap-On wrenches in my tool box.
