Sorry but I dont think that you are going to find anything like that for FREE.

All automotive software that I have ever used needed to be purchased.

What is it that you are looking for? Type of vehichle would also help.

I have been using one called Car Care for about 8 years now. It was around $20 I think.

I have 6 vehicles, a trailer and various other toys so it sure helps me keep track of everything!

Just a thought here...I'm new so bare with me. I understand what you are looking for and this isn't it, however I LOVE GOOGLE everything so check this out. Try google docs, specifically the spreadsheet application. My wife and I use it for almost everything. The online spreadsheet would be accessible from anywhere with an internet connection, so if you are needing to look something up why you have it at the stealership, then just hop online and login and tell them the last time you changed your plugs or whatnot. I even upload PDFs of manuals of stuff for our new house and share them with my wife, just so I can be even a little more paperless. ;-) I would even say someone send me a spreadsheet that you are using and I could upload it and make it work in Google docs and then export it and or share it out to those interested. (Sometime when converting from excel to google spreadsheet there is a little bit of formula rework needed.

Here's an XL file I use to track what's been done and the cost.

I've included one used to track a brake job on a neighbor's Envoy.

If you have Outlook, I'm sure you can tie this into your spreadsheet for pop up reminders (for service based on a date, not mileage of course!)

Thanks torqueman2002, but this wasn't exactly what I was looking for.
Your welcome. I thought, while not what you were after, I'd put it on the site for anyone who might be interested. Sorry for the 'hijack.' :)

I followed the link, but got a blank page.

I think AutoZone has some free simple maintenance type software that after you register your vehicle and tell them what type of driving you do, automatically sends you reminder emails for maintenance, but I haven't bothered with actually doing it yet....

But it is free...

I just came back here to add that to this thread. Looks like you beat me. I just added one of my vehicles. Looks like you get free TSB notifications, etc. Seems pretty slick. Not overly powerful, but online and free.

There's a program I use called Auto 3-in-1. It wasn't free but about $35. The thing I liked about it was that it provided 2 programs. 1 for your home PC and 1 for my PDA. I could log stuff into my PDA and later sync it up with the PC when I got home.

Just an FYI, your "total" in the lower right-hand corner is wrong. It sums G21-G24 which doesn't include the $11.25 for "chasing parts". I see he gave you a separate check for that so it appears you still got paid for it, but just in case you still use that as a template you don't screw yourself out of ten bucks per job.

The best site that I found online is SERFAX.

Try http://www.serfax.com

It is an free service to track all of your vehicle service records and you can even track up to 100 vehicle per account which is great for fleets. You can even save jpg images of your receipts so you don't have to try and find them later.

A regular spreadsheet is the way to go (google docs if you want it online). All these apps will be dead in 5-10 years. They either won't work with your new OS or the websites will be gone.

I use Evernote for EVERYTHING. I created a "Notebook" with all the family vehicles and then I just input the information for oil changes, air filters, schedules, notes, etc. either on my phone or on my computer. I can use photos that I take, information that's online, pdf's, pretty much anything I want into those specific files.

You can clip website files which is especially useful for jobs I might not be familiar with. There is even a browser add on that let's you do it in one click.

I also use it for bargain shopping, recipes, home improvement ideas...again, EVERYTHING. Oh, there is a free version which does everything most of us would need. The paid version gives you extra uploads and some other goodies but I haven't needed it.

I have been using a great web-based app, it's Allstate's home and car maintenance scheduler app.

You can find it here:

http://www.allstate.com/tools-and-resources/maintenance-reminder.aspx

It comes with a list of preinstalled recommendations, along with articles on what / when / how to perform certain tasks. The user can take notes in the application and can opt to receive email and / or text message notifications. It's nice because I can set an entire calendar year worth of tasks and not worry about forgetting. Hope this was helpful!

Gonna look and see if there is something for iPhone. That would be nice.
I'm always wondering if I need to pickup XYZ when I'm out, but all my maintenance records are at home. Would be nice to have them while mobile and then sync to home computer.

Try Car Maintenance for iPhone and Mac. This set of apps allows you to sync your data back and forth from your iPhone to a Mac through the car-traxx.com website. You can find out more at http://www.traxxsoftware.com
