Funny you should ask. I just bought 50' of rubber air hose this morning.
It wasn't because I "needed" a new 50' hose, it was because I was sick and tired of dealing with the nice "plastic" hose that I had. In warm temperatures the "plastic" hose is fine if a little stiff. In the cold, it is a cast iron b*tch.
I was so fed up with it coiling and pulling that I didn't even blink at the price at a hose company (Custom made on the spot). I went to them to make me a 10' piece to attach my compressor to a hose reel and I thought "Screw it, I want a new rubber hose."
They also had connectors that will take both of the common style ******* so I don't have to screw with making sure I have the right one on a tool that I borrow or buy. They were half the price of the ones I was using.
Rubber lays where you put it and, while heavier than the synthetics, it isn't that much heavier. If you aren't doing roofs (where weight is an issue), get a good rubber hose.
