What sizes are in a complete set of sockets?

I have been filling in all my socket sets at the flea market for a while now. I'ts getting less and less common to see a size that I don't have, but I'm still looking for whatever I can find.

Instead of taking a list of the sockets I have, It would be a lot easier to bring a list of the sockets I don't have. The trouble is, I don't really know what sockets I don't have.

I looked at some new socket sets to see whats included, but they never seem to come with the less common stuff.

Can anyone show me a 100% complete list of sockets?

For example, I now have, in 3/8" drive,
15/16"
7/8"
13/16"
3/4"
11/16"
5/8"
9/16"
1/2"
7/16"
3/8"
1/4"

Can you spot anything missing?

Thanks!

I'll list my 1/2" drive sockets tomorrow.
I'm pretty sure I have most all of them, but I'm not positive.

FWIW, anyone that needs/wants some of the x/32 sizes, you can actually find quite a few on Sears' website. Try searching for "craftsman /32 socket" and you'll get quite a few results. Not sure if the stores carry these, but I would doubt it for most of them. Still, if you need them, there's one option.

I jest, but if you want a quick run down of the sockets you don't own, buy yourself some Hansen trays. Nothing will make your set feel inadequate as putting what you have on the pegs and seeing the empty ones staring back at you. :spit:

EDIT: Emphasized the part that I thought some people might have missed.

Seems to be a fair sized hole in the metric department...
I don't work on old brit or American cars, and all my bikes are Japanese so consequently most of the imperial sockets just get used with a length of threaded bar, and some washers to make bearing pullers.

The biggest thing you are missing is the 5/16(quite common) then the 11/32(still slightly common). All the other X/32 amd X/64 are rarely needed anymore. Just can't beleive I'm the fisrt to spot the 5/16 missing.

Complete is in the eye of the beholder and manufacturer. I don't consider Hanson trays as the established standard in set composition as who uses a 20mm socket as anything other than a peg holder? Completeness to me is more about having the sockets needed to fix whatever rolls into the bay than how many obscure sizes gather dust in your box.:wtf:

Yep. As long as it will fix what you have, it is complete.

Thanks again.
So it looks like I should keep my eye open at the flea market for, 5/16, 19/32", 1", 11/32", and maybe while I'm at it, 31/32", 25/32", 21/32", and 19/32".

I Guess I still need 11/32" in 1/2" drive, but did I miss anything else?
1 1/4"
1 1/8"
1 1/16"
1"
31/32"
15/16"
7/8"
13/16"
3/4"
25/32"
11/16"
21/32"
5/8"
19/32"
9/16"
1/2"
7/16"
3/8"
1/4" (not sure what I'll ever use this one for?)

Quite frankly, below 3/8 inch socket size simply isn't needed in 3/8 drive, and below 7/16 or 1/2 socket size isn't needed in 1/2 drive. It is like using a cannon to kill a mouse. I found a brand new Williams 5/8 impact socket at the flea......... in 3/4 drive the other day, cannot imagine a need for that at all.

Thats why I was wondering about that 1/2" drive 1/4" socket.
It came in a box lot, I can't imagine why I would ever use it.

My Wright catalog has a sort of metric-standard comparison chart in it,a Snap on catalog might also have a chart. A few of the metric and standards aren't quite officially interchangeable but are kind of close. 1 3/16" and 30mm. ? 1 1/2" and 38mm. 1 3/8" and 35mm. ?

I found a 21/32 while sorting sockets. Don't really know if I ever needed it or if 11/16 was loose but adequate.
