Habitat was good to me today. The entire lot cost an even $20 bill.

After looking at the same carry boxes I noticed one more at my feet. I got a little excited when I realized what it was. Did somebody just post one of these on the site? Anyway, it was priced 14.99. The guy was being real generous today and pretty much threw in the sockets and then knocked off another 10 bucks off the total.

Channellock Grip-Lock (no hand grip) and slip joints.
Mystery plier, bought them because the name seemed odd.
Snap-On Blue-Point adjjstable
Cornwell saltus
3 S-K wrenches

Mystery Pliers, looks like Centul? Made in USA

Handfull of Snap-On sockets including a special drag link (posted in Vintage SO thread).
Proto, Williams,S-K, Craftsman metric.
Handful of 1/4” Husky, a Thorsen, and an 8pt Japan.

The box has rust on the bottom but the inside looks like it wasn’t used much at all.

I scored this fine lot from The ReStore.

IMG20230323120759.jpg

A HalfTime drill driver set. I don't know if I'll ever use it but it looks cool.

IMG20230323120448.jpg

Sears doe wrenches marked Japan, that don't appear to have been used and one Fleet marked USA.

IMG20230323120500.jpg

A Craftsman 3/4 combo.
A Bonney 7/16 3/8 marked 1727.
A Ford marked 16-Z-1411.

IMG20230323120620.jpg

A Fuller 14" with the stickers still on.
A P&C 8" still in good shape.
Mystery Pliers - I'll try to clean these up.

It came out to 12 bucks so I consider it a score.

Had a slow spell with a trip out of town, and then getting back in the home groove. Have had a pretty good luck this week, though:

Heavy duty screwdriver with part of the TAXI number on the wood panel: TG3X1A (or maybe TGBX1A, which wouldn't make sense); can't fully make out the manufacturer GRANT****. Picked it up for cheap at an antique store which is about to close down. Missed the markings till I got it out the door!
000_1411.JPG000_1410.JPG

ReStore stop, which is usually a waste of time.
- 3 Craftsman -V- 1/2" dr. sockets, all in good shape (9/16, 11/16, 13/16)
- some 1/2" chisels
- alignment tool
- 1/4" dr. 9/32" opening Cornwell socket
- small screwdriver for ignition wrench set
- coffee cups, one for 6th Cav and the other for 82d Airborne Division Artillery (DIVARTY)
EDIT to add: small wrench set on the Allen key, 1/4 - 1/2. Guessing early Duro on MFR? Half inch socket is cracked.

One question--How are you planning to get that Sharpie price off the top of the box?

No! No! Just kidding--Don't open that can of worms again!!

You **** for for the CL grip and the Cantilever box. and I'm not even a Cantilever box fan.. (I am a CL grip fan...)

The handle would be an easy make from Hardwood. I'd do it in 3 pieces and laminate. Let me know if you need pics (or want to lose it).

A Ford marked 16-Z-1411.
Early Auto trammy for the ford wrench I believe - Suckage as I don't see that many of them

Thanks, I think that's the gem of the group. It doesn't looked used and I only found one reference to it in a model t group.

Btw what were the mystery tools a few posts back?

One sale today had a lot of potential but with any midweek starts I can't get there due to work. So after work today I drove well out of the way into a really nice neighborhood and many things had gone, or were in taped up/bagged up bundles that didn't make sense for me. I did walk away with the Craftsman locking pliers and the complete Indestro hex drive set for less than a combo Meal at McD's. The tools were all in the basement ,but luckily I found the stray locking pliers in the garage, where they must have been missed/overlooked by earlier participants.

Long time no see Bluebolt! Still going strong on the Craftsman stuff I see!

Thanks guys. I was happy to find the box (and tools).

No pics of the rust Mike, but looks like any other carry box that sat on a floor somewhere.

Southern, I wish it was mint but it’s not quite. I will say the inside is clean clean clean other than the few goo globs, some scratches and minor blemishes.

Old Radar, goo gone is the best remover in most cases but not sure yet. I was surprised to see the marker because I peeled off a sticker when I got home only to find that underneath.

Fourcycle, it sure looks like Centul Trademark Made in USA still after cleaning the logo.
The locking plier is Grip-On by Channellock.

Outlaw, ran into another example of the Grip-Lock in my things recently and will have to compare the two. Not sure yet if it’s a worthy handle repair candidate but I appreciate that.

The only sale today worth the effort (it seemed barely worth it and it was an effort) was outside a little town about an hour away. From the pictures, the guy was a Veteran and a West Point grad. Lots of pics of uniforms, military gear, expended ordnance, large caliber ammo cases, etc.
I don't need anyone else's militaria, having more than enough of my own, so I ignored that. There were a good number of tool boxes but no real pictures of tools, so it was a **** shoot--but I decided to roll the dice. I got there at opening since I vacillated too long about going at all, only to find what I assume was the entire population of the small town and surrounding area waiting to get in. I signed the waiting list as number 168... Since it was a small homestead, they only let in 30 people. I immediately thought about going home, but I convinced myself that since I had already made the drive, I might as well gut it out. Two hours (and several debates about leaving) later, I got in and went straight to the large shop/storage shed hoping to find a large red socket case I had spied through a window an hour before. Of course, there was a guy standing there with his hand on it looking at the $30 sticker. He opened it up and there was at least a healthy partial 1/2" chromed set inside. I nonchalantly watched as he toyed with the idea of picking it up--and of course, he ultimately did. As he was about to leave, I asked if he wouldn't mind telling me what brand tools were inside. He said: "Fleet. They're American made." I do pick up Fleet from time to time, but at least I wasn't going to have to cry all the way home. Absolutely nothing else caught my eye. The tool boxes were all "meh" and all the tools were on the small table the Fleet set had been on.
I decided to take a quick spin through the house on my way back to the car. A lot of militaria. In one room there were several "vintage" beer bottles most with the porcelain flip top stopper. On a shelf there was a group of empty liqueur bottles--vintage again--most of which had $10 price tags. Among them, and seeming out of place, was a Kahlua bottle. When I picked it up looking for a price tag I realized not only was it full, but the cap was still sealed. The cloth ribbon down the front looked fairly faded and I was concerned about its age--I don't know if Kahlua ages well. When I was directed to the boss for a price, she informed me that she wasn't really allowed to sell alcohol, so I could have it! I thanked her heartily and drove home with my free liter of Kahlua that only cost me half a day and $15 in gas.
I'll test it out now and report back (if I survive).

Edit--
AAR: It was definitely sealed. Most likely made for domestic (Mexican) consumption and purchased during a vacation.
On its own, maybe not quite as "fresh" as it once was. Paired with some good Vodka, it makes an acceptable Black Russian.

...Never drank Parliament. If you like Russian vodka, try Beluga, Mamont or Russian Standard (go for Platinum - not sure if basic version is as good as it once was...) If you like unusual ones, try Imperia by Russian Standard - back of your throat will feel some interesting grainy taste.
... Chilled, no ice, not mixed...

You're braver than I am, LOL!

But, that reminds me of my (only) trip to Mexico, on my honeymoon. My sister LOVES Kahlua, and at the duty-free shop, I found a VERY cool bottle shaped something like this, and bought it for her as a souvenir.

Still kicking myself (18 years later) for not buying myself one...

Not to get too far off topic, but most of my vodka came to me as presento's from Russian or Ukrainian Team Chiefs when I led US teams over there (or they came here) for Open Skies Treaty missions. One thing I can tell you is when they sit down and bring out a new bottle of vodka, the first thing they do is throw away the lid... :drink:

Scored a big one today. Saw this chest in the photos of an estate sale. Couldn't figure out what brand, but knew it was a 30's-40's drop front toolbox. Checked a bunch of catalogs but couldn't match it. Sure enough, it was a Bonney MC set. Page 16 of catalog 138 (1938)

Lots of stuff inside, a lot of Bonney (circle CV marked) sockets, Bonney (CV Chromium Vanadium) sockets, 1/2 drive speeder, 3/8 drive speeder, 3/4 drive sliding handle and several 3/4 drive sockets and extensions.

The other stuff is all over the place.

Looks like some complete, and some cut off Walden Tomohawks. Currently soaking in soapy water, then evaporust. Also notice the vintage Alemate grease gun in here. I think there is a knife sharpener here too with the weird handle.

Thank you, there was some other puller parts I recognized, I'll have to get them together for safekeeping.

Spinner for removing oil pan screws on old Chevrolet engines.

Thank you. I have seen Plomb sockets that looked similar, so I was thinking something like this. There are no discernable markings, but hopefully some research will show what brand. The ball on the end is unique as I haven't seen another spinner with that handle before.

Fridays !! It's starting to get warm out there...
Nice little socket set with Montgomery Wards Speed Master tools and Wards Master Quality sockets. It had some feeler guages abd a small Ignition Pliers also. Picked up a Blue Grass chisel and two others yet to be identified. And a brass spring scale and some where a brass hose nozzle. A couple of small Cman wrenches.

I could use some help with the maker of this box. No badges or stamps that I could find. Pulls and handle dont ring a bell. MBC ? (WAG!!)
Nice box, hasnt been abused and slides work well empty!
It has been spray bombed unfortunately.
