We found some Blue Point and Snap-on tools at a sale this morning. Top to bottom,
BP Screw starter, BP reversible snap ring pliers, BP crimpers, part of a SO socket rack and a SO circuit tester.

It's possible they went bigger with the early deep carb service sockets. I believe during wartime that even the biggest deep socket was SM-14 - 7/16". I could be wrong.
Unfortunatly none of the pictures i took have the size but its 1/2 first shown in 32 cats i think heres a picture of the page from my 33 cat

I have been putting my 9/32 drive carb sockets in this box for years now. I think my biggest so far is 7/16

Nice setup there.

Anybody seen this one before? I picked up a small handful of Snap-On sockets today including a few industrial finish, and this special was in there.
N7192, 1/2” drive.
Drag link? I’ve seen many drag link sockets with edges ground down to shorten the blade width. This appears factory made that way. The special could be related to the blade or the industrial finish, idk.

Dang! If that were mine, I'd take the handles and hinges off and soak them to de-rust them, but I certainly wouldn't touch the front with anything stronger than penetrating oil and a #0000 steel wool pad and that would be as gingerly as applying suntan lotion to my wife's back. I wouldn't even breathe the word restore in its general area. That's a splendid find, as is. Congrats.

Can anyone help me figure out what would actually qualify as a true full socket set? Ill start with 5/8 drive. The common ones seem to be 15/16" 31/32" 1" 1-1/16" 1-1/8" 1-1/4" 1-3/8" 1-7/16" 1-1/2"
The less common ones that i have or have had are 3/4" 7/8" 1-5/8"
I dont think i have seen a 1-5/8 in the cats but they obviosly exist as i had one in S/0 style and i have never seen a
1-3/16" does anyone have a truly full set of 5/8 drive 6 points?
And for 4 point 1/2 drive are there any other uncommon ones? Also same for 5/8 drive 4 points i have a 1-7/16 but have only had a few others would love to see what you got for 4 point sets. Especially 7/8 drive

I was told that power companies were long-time users of 5/8" drive tools. Something about less likely to be stolen than 1/2" or 3/4" drive tools. My personal opinion is that 5/8" drive fit the range of fasteners used in power transmission, so there was another reason, perhaps a combination of both.

Don't normally buy old snap on stuff bit got these in a box of bits.
A m5 (midget?) 9/32 Tommy bar and a M 1 C (or badly stamped 0) 3/8 female to 9/32 male adapter.
Are these 1959s? Appear to have a worn zinc finish maybe.

I found this Snap On FV71M 3/8" ratchet in a random bag of tools I purchased at an estate sale yesterday. It is in really nice condition. Any idea of the year?

Those look wartime and cadmium finish to me. They did use zinc phosphate, but it's usually chalkier.
Would make sense, they were with some plomb 9/32 bits in the same finish.
They all came with some mixed king **** 9/32 and 1/4 that has the UK military crows foot stamp.

Portland expo. So seller starts explaining how to open the box and I’m like “thanks, I’m all set” then seller explains how they already have had to explain to a couple people and I’m thinking a couple people already picked this up and opened it (with help apparently) and didn’t think it was worth $5 ?🤔

Found two Snap-On sockets at the flea market on Saturday. Both 3/8” drive deep well. A 1941 7/16” 12 point and a 1951 19/32” 12 point. Pretty cool to think this 7/16” socket was made before we officially entered into WW2.

Can anyone help with pinpointing the likely age of this KR-300 Rollachest? I suspect pre-WWII. There is no model number or date on the bottom-left of the front face. The workbench light is missing. The external power plug on the back bottom is 2-prong, but the outlet on the work bench top is 3-prong.20230419_160133.jpg
