Just got a new bench grinder and one of the wheels wobbles.

Is this normal? Should I send it back?

Thanks

Could try loosening wheel and rotating a quarter turn and re-tighten. May have to try this a couple of times. It may or may not help.

Then if the shafts OK, remount the wheels and dress them in.
I'll add that if there are washers and/or spacers used to clamp the wheel on the shaft, make sure they are true. I thought I had a bad wheel once and it turns out the big washer I was using was bent enough to cause a wobble. I ordered some machined spacers and it straightened everything out.

Also, make sure the shoulder of the nut is square to the shaft axis.

Oneway, the Canadian woodworking lathe and accessory manufacturer, makes wheel balancing systems for grinder wheels.
Out of round wheels cause excessive vibration, which makes the precision sharpening of woodworking tools inconsistent, when using the Oneway sharpening jigs, hence the balancing system.
Oneway uses their “Wolverine” branding gor the jigs.
You need wheels with a 1” arbor though.

Keith fenner did a 3 part series on tuning up a poor quality grinder. Watch it and glean what is needed to have a good grinder. It has more than just balancing wheels. He goes through measuring to find untrue parts and making new ones.
