I'd love to hear some of your experience with different brands and models of tire machines and balancers. I know deals sometimes pop up on used equipment, but if I'm not counting on luck and would like to stay under $10k for a combo, are any of these lesser brands a good deal or worth the money?
There doesn't seem to be any comprehensive comparisons of the different brands and models
I need to do tires for the track, tires for our suvs, tires for motorcycles, and tires for the Mini (10" wheels). I'd like to just pay a proper shop, but I can't seem to find a shop with people who care about their work nor are willing to deal with non-standard sizes, non-dot race tires, or swapping any used tires except winter tires.
It seems like the Mayflower, Weaver, and Aston machines are likely all the same imports with different branding, but so far Weaver seems to be the most professional and responsive, sharing all their documentation up-front. I've considered stepping up to Bendpak's entry line (Ranger), but I'm unsure if they offer improved the quality of equipment or if the price just goes up because of the brand name?
I'd like a tire changer that can handle down to 10" wheels, has a helper arm (or two) and is built sturdy enough that the duckhead isn't going to eat rims when mounting some stiff sidewall race tires.
With a balancer, I just want something that is going to do a good job. This feels like the place where a newer import might have an advantage over an older brand name.
