There are 4 ways to use the opener. First, as a jar wrench to remove screw lids. On the end is a lid Lifter to pry off lids such as on a Mason jar, and next to that is a bottle cap opener. The 4th is for opening tin cans, by jamming the sharp point into the can center and using the sharp triangular cutter to cut a circular piece out of the can top.

Today's ES was the 50% off day of a sale I didn't get to earlier. I went in the forlorn hope that the Rem-line chest and the Mossberg set would still be there. They weren't and neither was the small S-K set. The larger S-K set was.

It turned out to be a Wayne era set and I usually don't pick those up, but with everything else gone, I gave it a look.
It was priced at $12, so $6 today, but there were no drive tools except a beat-up spinner of later manufacture and half of the sockets were from off shore. I spoke to the guy at the cash register and said I wasn't interested in the non-S-K sockets and would he adjust the price? After some minor hemming and hawing he said $4, but I would have to take all the sockets. I countered that if I was going to be saddled with stuff I was going to have to dispose of, I would only pay $3. Grrr. Okay.

The four sockets to the left are dups.
The rest are the off-shore dreck except for the P&C ignition wrench, CM -v- 3" ext, CM -vv- and -G- sockets.

I believe the set itself is a MASTER SET No. 4921, depicted (and laid out in reverse) in Wayne's 1968 catalog, missing the Wayne era spinner, the 6" extension and the 40970 round head ratchet.

OR I'm confused, that SK set looks to be nearly complete other than the items you mentioned? Or maybe you filled it up with spares you had laying around?

Either way you ****! And if you're inclined to complete the set I'm positive I have a Wayne ratchet, almost positive I have the spinner, and chances are pretty good on the 6" extension as well...

Maybe we need a can opener thread? I didn't find one, but did find a few interesting can openers scattered through the posts over the years.

All the pieces were there, jumbled together with the off-shore stuff. I've checked my spares and came up dry on the rat, ext and spinner, so I would appreciate it if you take a look through yours! Thanks!

I went on a bit of a trip around the PNW over the weekend, getting back last night. I hit a variety of different sales during my travels, with pretty good results. Four sales the first day, a Friday, and two on the third, a Sunday and both half price!

53800463669_34b1dd6d51_b.jpg
The first was a farm estate on the second day, so pretty cleaned out, but I picked up a box of shrink tubing, a set of Fluke leads, two Snap-on sockets, and a Plomb extension. $6

53800470429_dc853d36a2_b.jpg
Next was one of those eternal garage sales, not my kinda thing, but here I found two vintage ammo boxes, small vintage adjustable, Duro/Indestro flip-flop ratchet, Blackhawk breaker bar, brace bit, and molding plane part. $10

53800475219_b67b83fe76_b.jpg
After that a low-key estate sale (my favorite) were I scored a very dirty ratchet (too dirty to find the markings), Blackhawk T-handle from the late '20s, push drill, Crescent chisel, Proto Pro ratchet, and Snap-on combo. $10

53800462113_63c3f4a203_b.jpg
And, finally, a big, pro run estate sale, Here we got a full set of unused Stanley Russel Jennings brace bits, and a set of mixed metric 3/8" sockets-Craftsman, SK, MAC, and Taiwan. I had to spend real money to get the bit set, so $80.

The two sales I was able to find that Sunday were good
53800476069_a519ac6054_b.jpg
Some Plomb puller parts and a old-style magneto kit. $10

And the last sale
53800583600_6d10246a8d_b.jpg
three drawer Lyon parts cabinet, Stanley driver and chisel, early Spintite, and small socket box, containing:
53800395918_05061dfb79_b.jpg
Plomb drive tools, and mixed vintage sockets. $16.

Altogether, a nice mini-vacation, with lots of adventures, both good and bad. Now, I might have time to start cleaning this stuff.

I think your push drill is actually a screwdriver, a Yankee style. I think mine is a Craftsman, so dirty and held together with tape that I assumed a kludge, til I saw a nice one marked Craftsman.

First find was on the way to the yard sale, sitting on the curb with a FREE sign on it:

In the trunk it went!

Turns out, all that was wrong with it was the broken off hose end on the input side:

I put a five-dollar ***-changer on it and tested--no leaks!

53800848478_13e79602f6_b.jpg

It's got 200' of hose in it now.

Finally made it to the same old yard sale, where I picked up a new project:

It currently conducts no electricity when the switch is on. First step: check brushes.

Here's what $2 gets you at a random estate sale (I bid online on proxibid). I picked all these up today. Not bad. The Lectrolite is a complete double box end SAE set. The larger pliers and cutters are Channel Locks. I love the Stanley 100 Plus screwdriver, as I collect/use them. The pipe wrench is Ridgid.

Most cheap assortments like this at estate sales are not nearly as good as this one. :) Also what made the price so low was that they had all the tools in one box so it was hard to discern what was in there, thus the low price. They don't have time to lay everything out in a nice way.
