Have you verified the amp draw of the fan?

I hadn’t, but I put a meter on it this morning. Pulls about 17A at spin up, about 11A continuous.

The breaker is this type, un-sealed

IMG_4905.jpeg

Don’t know it it’s actually Bussman, but looks just like it. I bought another one. But I’m not so sure that being underhood is a good place for it. So I also bought one of these with cover

IMG_4906.jpeg

in the hopes that it is more weather resistant.

Well, I wasn’t able to use the eBay tail light housing. The bulbs were super rusted in the sockets, and the connection in the socket broke when I was finally able to coax them out. Dammit.

But I was able to use the bezel. So I went from this IMG_4465.jpeg

To this IMG_4502.jpeg

Back end of the car looks better with the new tail light lenses and the dark/original colored bezels.

One day I’ll find a good usable passenger tail light housing.

Change the breaker. It could be sick. Make sure the new one is the correct amperage, just in case the current one is not.

Do not be surprised if it's actually the fan. They're kinda cheesy and live in a hellish environment, so they're not the longest living part on the car. I've seen them start to draw really high amps intermittently as they die.

On my kid's car the fan had bad bearings, causing it to freeze momentarily as it ran. When the little freezes became slightly longer, it would pop the breaker. Then, after the car had sat for a while to cool down, it would be mysteriously OK, till the next event.

I wired this (Painless) about 8-9 years ago. So the breaker is what it says it is, a generic 30A. I suspect that the underhood environment got to it. Looking at their website, it looks like they don’t even use this style of breaker any more. Their kits now have one with a rubber cover and plastic, probably sealed, body.

The fan is a Spal, only a couple of years old. It could have failed, but it’s not a cheap parts store generic fan likely to die an early death.

The car doesn’t need to cool down. A rap on the panel where the breaker is mounted, or even a good road bump, can restart the fan.

Plugged in the charger for my mobility scooter. Not planning on going anywhere today, this town is full of tourists because the Fourth of July is the biggest day of the year here.
We may have a visitor, the daughter of my son’s best friend might come to watch the Coronado Fourth of July Parade go by.
I seem to have recovered from my bout with the Three Day Flue, but standing up and Saluting as all the flags are carried by seems hard. I guess I will have to watch the parade on YouTube.

Not standing is perfectly fine if you’re ill.

Have you tried just stabbing the hardener container and pouring it into a cup?
It has a spout I can pour it out of instead of using the pumps. But it doesn't look like there's enough in there to do an entire seam. I'll just wait for the new stuff to show up. I wish these bottles had a clear 'port' on them like oil jugs where you can see how much is really still in there.

104 outside right now on the way to 110. Thankfully this was a bench project done in front of a fan.
One of the contact disks on my key fob was loose and moving around inside the fob causing random lock actuating. I hate key fobs!

Both disks removed and fob cleaned.
IMG_4533.jpeg

A bit of RTV used to reattach the disks.

Did I mention I hate key fobs?

Came across my dads homelite XL901, while cleaning out the attic of family home following the passing away of my Mom.
I couldn't bring myself to dispose of or sell it, as its been up there for 52 years.
I brought it home and did a partial tear-down, rings and piston looked good when viewed through the exhaust port, but it was missing the ignition core and coil. power washed the saw dust out of the cylinder cooling fins, reset the point gap. Replaced the fuel hose, disassembled the carb and washed it out with 100% ispropyl alcohol and reassembled with the original diaphragm and gaskets. found a coil core and coil on ebay.

Well its up and running, I thing my Mom and Dad would be Happy...

For the most part ducking the heat, even if it is a bit less today.

Very early I completed clean up of weedeater chaff to remove as much weed seed source as possible. fixed a bunch of drip mist sprinklers that got damaged by tripping on over winter or from the weed eater (damn things are invisible in the weeds till too late), and watered for 2 hours on the side yard. (this is really slow watering so I do it deep and not too often).

Pulled the seat post of the 20" "camp bike" project and swapped seats, then tried it. I think this one will work for me. so I shopped for new tires and tubes, and went and got them from target PU.

still watering other parts of the yard in prep for the fire works. Might get the tires changed after its a bit cooler.

Welcome @fillister

Great work on the chainsaw. Hope its not 11 more years till you get to do something else in the garage!

Was working under the F350. Hear the dog losing his mind in the house. So now I'm mildly annoyed I have to go investigate, he doesn't bark unless someone is at the door..

Salesman selling who knows what at the front door.
Annoyance level rises because this chump annoyed the dog AND made me stop working under the truck.

Open door & point at the sign..

Sign1dd.jpg

"$50 please" (holds out hand)
I get the first minute free right?
"No. $50, paid in advance, pay up. I was working under my truck & had to stop because of you.."
Nice, what kind of truck?
$50, pay up or **** off..."

I didn't get my $50.

Then I have to round up the dog from the front yard

WTF is wrong with people? The goddamn sign is RIGHT THERE, if you then decide knock you better be holding $50 when I open the door. If you aren't holding out $50, you will get attitude.
My daughter has a similar sign, fortunately very few solicitors in the neighborhood. Sorry about the image, it was raining and the camera lens was fogged over.

This is getting ridiculous. Everything is on hold, for one reason or another, so I started another side project.

The roof is waiting for better weather. I need it hot, sunny, with no chance of rain. Looks like maybe Thursday, if the weather forecast can be believed this far out.

The router table, I’m waiting for feather boards so I can set up the T tracks. I did mount the router base, and the underside box that allows it to clamp in to the WorkMate. I started laying out the T slots for the fence.

IMG_5087.jpeg

The other WorkMate, modified in to a welding table, is difficult to open. I made the top larger, making it hard to reach the release tabs. I can grab both, but then need a third hand to pull it open.

Some scrap angle iron, a couple of holes, a piece of round stock, and some red paint later, I have a folding foot stirrup. I’ll mount it under the table once the paint dries.

IMG_5088.jpeg

The circuit breaker got removed and dissected.

IMG_5089.jpegIMG_5090.jpeg

It looks ok, at least to a simple inspection. There’s nothing obviously wrong with it. Contact points look ok. With the way the outside looks, I was expecting the insides to show some corrosion or damage or something. Waiting for its replacement to arrive.

Did some cleaning and sweeping up.

Welcome to my life. I putter. Greenhouse here, sidewalk there. The monster projects are over. No more thousand yards earthmoving projects or reroof or siding jobs. It's kinda sad really. But, I keep chugging along.

Today will be cleaning up, finding a missing tool, and CAD work. Not exactly inspiring.

Put my brother’s ‘71 bronco in the empty bay. Installing a/c and 3.5” lift this week. (Probably a 2 week project because something else will get in the way 🤦‍♂️)
Also finished up a headstone for my dog.
(Yeah I name my dogs after car components).
