Behind the garage. Cooler temperatures, dry, low humidity, and nice weather sunny days, so back to getting ready to paint the garage. Did some gardening with my sawzall, removed a bunch of trees to make a path behind my neighbor’s side of the garage and along his fence.

I need to do some cleaning behind the garage myself. Maybe I can work on it some before the winter.

Installed a new carbide toothed chain on the HF electric chainsaw (as recommended by Fixr). The chain was a little shorter than the original, so I had to shorten the bar slightly and redrill the alignment pin holes to make it work.

Then I cut up five sheets of 12 ft corrugated roofing into 3 ft lengths for the wall project.

I finally had the electrician come out and put in the subpanel and wire everything up so I have power from the house to the barn.
I wired everything internally 2 years ago and have been running it off an extension cord.
Celebrated by cleaning and organizing my side and started the last of the finish work on the wife's side.20241003_070956.jpg20241003_162933.jpg

that's a good looking workspace, must feel good not having to run the extension lead anymore

Strapped the new boiler to the appliance cart and managed to get it down the basement stairs without breaking anything or myself. Once down there, I checked it over and started taking the old boiler apart. None of the piping or electrical locations carry over from the 20 y.o. Laars unit, so I did quick inventory of 1-1/4“ copper sweat fittings and ordered a few from McMaster Carr. I was shocked by the UPS shipping charges, but didn’t really want to spend the 30 minutes each way to pick them up. When I was working, we ordered so frequently, they had their own couriers. If you ordered before 9:00, we would receive the order by lunchtime. I guess I was spoiled by that.

Started cleaning up a VW Beetle project car. Vacuuming for hours as there were seed and rat dirt everywhere. Had to stop a couple times and empty the vacuum. Vacuum on/off switch crapped out. Stopped emptied vacuum then started disassembly. Found lots that needed cleaned up. Part ordered, coming from Amzn, might get to clean some more!

Uhhh....no. LOL I used a cutoff wheel on a grinder.
Hey - I wondered as well. I assumed you didn't but the way your post was worded and the order it was in left some doubt.

Out in the garage today working on touching up a nasty rock chip on my wife's Explorer...
Using the water based product from "Scratches Happen", so far it seems like a good product... We'll see how it performs long term...

I also just received a dry sanding kit from Eagle Abrasives "Tolecut"...
Comes with two hard rubber applicator pads and 6 grades K-800 to K-3000 abrasive sheets that are pre-cut to fit the pads...
I'm really impressed at how well this kit works at removing paint nibs and runs...

Did rear brakes on the Silverado a week or so ago, this morning they felt a little soft? Pulled the wheels off and everything looked good, so I just adjusted them. Not sure where the sudden change came from, but they seem better now?

Maybe there was a ridge or something on the drum?
Might just be bedding in

what are the parts for and how do you design them ?
It's a Star trek Tricorder.
I built one before for a buddies birthday. That was also a humidor.
Here the post.

This one is for a buddy who just retired. No humidor.

I'm a retired Industrial designer. I do most of my design work in FomrZ and my sculpting in Zbrush. Yeah. I've got a thing for software that has Z in the title. :D

Grabbed a piece of scrap timber for a shop project, it had a decent warp in it so I actually used my jointer and thicknesses to straighten it out with some degree of success. Approx 27" long and close enough to 20 thou difference between edges.
I'm pretty happy with that as I haven't really used the jointer for any projects only a few test goes and I never really felt confident, the new push paddles I made are a big improvement over just using hands. The finish from the jointer is a bit 'choppy' but I'll work on that
